When I heard about the skull floating down the Little Blue I never even thought "Summer Shipp". I had honestly almost forgotten about her. Her disappearance hasn't been in the news much lately.

Strangely enough I was having a conversation with a co-worker today about the body found in bBelton last week and I asked the question "How many bodies do you suppose might be hidden in wooded and brushy areas around the metro?" His reply was "maybe quite a few".

I wonder. When you consider the prevalence of poisen ivy, snakes, etc in our area do you suppose that there might just be many areas where bodies may have been dumped over the years and never been found just because those areas are pretty inaccessible most of the time?

Its food for thought and winter is coming. The leaves will be off the trees and visibility will be better in many wooded, brushy areas. Perhaps our local law enforcement in the metro might think about forming up some search parties to attempt to bring closure to some of the disappearances which have occurred in our area.

My heart goes out to Summer Shipp's family and I hope they find some closure here. Her daughter has been very diligent in her search for her mother and I hope she can now find some peace.

I ask each of you - Would you plead guilty to anything if you knew in your heart that you had done nothing wrong? I wouldn't!  Especially not if I were a US Senator. There is a lot at stake here like the credibility of this particular Senator and, indirectly, all Senators and other elected officials. First this fool was going to resign September 30th and then he decided to withdraw his plea and stay in office but said he would leave if the judge didn't allow the plea to be withdrawn. Guess what? The judge didn't allow the plea to be withdrawn and now the Senator says he will stay in office until his term expires in 2009.

There has to be a way for the Senate to remove this man. He is making the whole government look bad.

1. You did not allow for comments to your blog.

2. You said that there was a lot of "he said, she said" involved.

3. You never stated any facts about the case.

4. You obviuosly felt that Sara should have won her case. Without any facts I'm not at all sure.

5. Even if Sara took great pains to communicate with her ADA it doesn't necessarily mean that she should have won or that she was cheated by not winning. A poor case is a poor case no matter how much communication there is.

6. The best defense against domestic violence is being careful about who you are with and getting away from the situation before it gets bad. For instance, the first time the other person makes a move in anger you should get away.  People need to exercise good judgement, it's their responsibility to themselves.

7. If you write a letter or complain to almost any government agency they will "investigate", it doesn't mean anything, they are obligated to investigate. An investigation does't prove any thing.

8. Charges of domestic violence are often just one party trying to "get back" at someone else on the flimsiest of pretexts.

9. I do recognize that there are true domestic violence cases that require prosecution. I, myself, have been a victim. The guilty parties need to be punished, sometimes severely so. I don't feel that you made a case even in your blog.

When I first heard about this discovery my first thought was "Kara Kopetsky". I'm sure that a lot of you who have followed her disappearance thought the same thing. I hope it's not her. I keep hoping that she will turn up safe someday, somewhere. This body is someone and somebody has lost a loved one. My heart goes out to whoever that is.

Recently oil has been selling for around $80.00 per barrell yet we are seeing the price of a gallon of gasoline decrease. Could it be that the alternative fuel industry, ethanol in particular, is putting some real pressure on the oil companies? I belive that it is and each time one of you buys a Flex Fuel Vehicle or has your car converted to burn ethanol (E85) you will help drive the oil companies to bring gasoline prices back into line and (hopefully) put those greedy folks out of business altogether. Believe it, competition works wonders in the marketplace!

Approximately 60,000 years ago this planet entered an ice age. As the centuries progressed the ice age became more and more pronounced. Eventually a huge area of North America was covered by glaciers which were two miles thick in some places. Temperatures plunged and evaporation from the oceans & seas was converted into snow which fed the growth of the glaciers. This cycle continued for nearly 50,000 years and then something dramatic happened - without any help from man the planrt began to warm up again, the galciers began to recede and the oceans began to rise. As the glaciers melted and some of the cold-weather animals such as the saber tooth tiger, mammoth, mastadon,  & giant sloth began to dissapear as their cold habitat began to disappear with the glaciers. Today we are still in the warming cycle which began almost 10,000 years ago and the planet will continue to warm until certain global events trigger the beginnings of a new cooling period. There is nothing that man can do to slow down or speed up this process. The changes will take place incrementally and man will adapt within the limits of his ability to do so. If the surface temperature of the planet becomes either too hot or too cold for us we can move underground or we can build our cities under domes, we can adapt and we can survive provided that change does not occur too rapidly (it could but not because of anything man is doing). We are only one of many, many species which do and have inhabited this planet. Most of the species which have lived on the planet have become extinct but not because of anything man has done! We may or may not survive as a species but building coal fired power plants or anything else which boosts CO2 emissions will have absolutely zero effect on our survival or on the warming/cooling cycle of the planet!

For those of you who have been following these events there is a blog on this site titled "The Minutemen - Texas Style" posted on 9/21 by Wonderful-World in Houston, Tx and ther is an article in today's KC Star, page B9 by Al Garza who is the national executive director of the Minutemen. The blog and the article both shed a lot of light on the issue of membership in the Minutemen. I hope you will all read both.

Hello Houston bloggers! I'm a blogger from Kansas CIty, Missouri. I usually blog at www.myfoxkc.com. My userid and password works on your blogsite and yours will work on ours.

We have a huge debate going on here in KC and need your help. Our mayor appointed a 73 year old grandmother to our city Parks Board. The lady just happens to be a member of the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps. La Raza and the NAACP have both threatened to pull their conventions out of KC if the mayor does't remove this lady or if she doesn't voluntarily resign from the board.

As a resident of a U.S./Mexican border state can any of you come post a blog on our blogsite and tell us what you know either first hand or thru your local news media about the activities of the Minutemen along the Texas/Mexico border? We are too far north to know what goes on and our local news doesn't give us much insight because of our distance from the border.

Thanks Houston bloggers!

I'm a blogger from Kansas City, Missouri. I blog on my local fox site regularly. You can log onto our blogsite at www.myfoxkc.com. Your userid and password will work on our site just like mine works on yours.

I'm blogging here because we have a raging debate going on here in KC right now. Our mayor appointed a 73 year old grandmother to the city's Parks Board. This lady just happens to belong to the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps. La Raza and the NAACP have both threatened to pull future conventions out of KC because of this woman's membership in the Minutemen. They have made this threat, they say, because they consider the Minutemen to be a vigilante group that does more than just report illegal border crossings. I have visited the Minutemen's website and their stated mission doesn't seem to indicate a propensity towards violence or illegal activities.

If any of you has any first hand knowledge of Minutemen activity along the Texas/Mexico border could you log onto our website and blog about what you know? Even information gleaned from your local news media would help. We here in KC are too far north to see much of what goes on down there on a daily basis.

Thanks Austin bloggers!

Actually I tricked you! This blog isn't about pit bulls at all. I know that some bloggers in the Twin Cities are passionate about this subject so I used it to get your attention. I have 2 blogs in your news blogs right now and they have been there for awhile and no one has made a single comment on either one.

I'm not putting anyone down and I'm not trying to make anyone angry with me. I blog a lot here in Kansas City and we have a pretty lively group here who exchange ideas all the time. I'm just wondering what turns Minneapolis/St. Paul on when it comes to blogging. I see that there are 1,861 people in your area on this website right now but no one is blogging anything. What's up?

This story about the man in Blue Springs who tried to hire a hit man to kill 4 people is getting some really bizarre reportage. I keep hearing over and over that "I have never heard of such a low price to kill 4 people".

Would it have been better for the man to have offered a higher price? Is he not up to standards?

The thing that I find wrong with this situation is that there was somebody out there who was willing to pay anything to have people bumped off. I don't care what the price was.

I was a soldier in the US Army from 1963 - 1971. During that time I served one tour of duty in Vietnam. That year was  the most stressful of my life. There were a lot of guys that served 2 tours over there and some who even served 3 or 4. For any of you who have ever served in a war zone I don't need to tell you what this does to you psychologically. For those of you who have not I will tell you that you might come home in one piece but you are not mentally healthy when you return and you may spend a lifetime filled with anxiety, flashbacks, inability to sleep well and on and on.

I don't have a problem with the war in Iraq. I do have a problem with guys going over there for 15 months and coming back for 12 months and then going back for 15 again.

I believe that we will be engaged in military actions around the world for years to come and that we are going to need more men in uniform than we currently have.

The U.S. is going to have to either renew the draft or lower its standards for people to enter the military.

I was a big proponent for and end to the draft back in the '70s but in today's world I don't think that we can survive with an all volunteer force.

The alternative would be to fold up our tents, come home, convert to Islam like Osama wants us to and welcome the terrorists to our country and I am not willing to be a part of that.

We keep hearing so much about wiretapping and eavesdropping in the interest of national security (I really don't have a problem with it as I wan't the terrorists kept under surveillance and off the streets).

The problem I have is with our borders and with our ports.

I can't believe that our president wants to be so reactive to this terrorist threat once the terrorists are inside our country. It would make a whole lot more sense to seal our borders and closely scrutinize our ports to keep terrorists and their materials out of the country instead of expending all of this energy to listen to them once they are here!

I believe that Bush should be impeached for his failure "to protect and defend this country from all enemies both foreign and domestic". He took this oath when he was sworn in and I believe that he has failed miserably!

Our borders need to be sealed and our ports secured without further delay! Bush probably won't be impeached but he will be leaving office soon and the person who gets my vote will be the one who makes a commitment to secure this country and its borders and ports.

The author of this blog could actually get a debate going if he/she would allow comments to his/her blog.

Personally I hope that all of you are buying FFVs (Flex Fuel Vehicles) or converting your rides to use E85 so you don't have to pay such high prices for "dinosaur blood" anymore. There are alternatives to gasoline these days. With some simple and cheap modifications to your cars and to your driving habits you can get good mileage with E85.

No I'm not talking about impeaching our President for his mis-steps in Iraq. The Congress voted us in way back when Colin Powell was still Secretary of State so any way you cut it Bush is immune from impeachment on that score even if you don't like him.

I'm talking about impeaching him for his failure to defend this country from illegal immigration. We have many laws on the books which prescribe how foreign nationals are to enter this country and the procedures they are to follow to stay here. Bush took an oath to protect this country from "all enemies both foreign and domestic" just like any member of our military does. He has failed miserably! We have no fence along the border (we were promised one). We have no meaningful military presence there to protect us from the flood of illegals which is taking place. The Border Patrol is way underfunded and undermanned and he has had the utter gall to propose legislation to allow millions of these illegals to stay here to rob jobs from citizens of this country. He has failed to see that existing immigration law is enforced. I believe that these failures amount to an impeachable offence against the American people and I call upon our Congress to bring impeachment proceedings against President Bush forthwith, to find him guilty of such crimes and to expel him from the office of President of the United States!

Illegal aliens can only be called foreign enemies as they have flooded our system, they are sucking our resources dry, they steal our jobs, lower our wage scale and pose a security threat to this country in the form of terrorists who might slip in alongside them.

The Congress must impeach Bush, NOW!

independant. If anyone wants to correspond directly with me you can do so at [email protected]. I see myself as both a conservative and a conservationist. I despise wastefulness but I don't want environmentalists telling me how to live my life. I'm all for a free market system except when it comes to energy. This is a monopoly thast needs to be regulated! I diverge from most conservatives when it comes to abortion and stem cell research as I belive in freedom of choice and scientific progress as I believe that we were given a brain to think with. Knee jerk reactions and one issue politics turn me off. I am both a Vietnam veteran and former Vietnam war protester (we should have been allowed to win). I am an advocate of the war in Iraq (as long as we do what we have to to win) and the war on terror.
