I have been receiving calls on my cell phone for the past three months, from the Kansas City School District, letting me know that my child has missed one or more hours of school that day.
Frankly, I don't even have any children in the first place...  Secondly, I have tried calling the Kansas City School Board several times, to speak with a person who will remove my phone number from their automated system and see to it that the issue has been addressed with the childs' parents etc  I was assured that it would be taken care of.  I received another automated call the very next day and have continued to receive these calls about every other day.
This child, Grace Hopkins, is apparently doing something she shouldn't be doing besides skipping school.  Especially since I've received these calls for 2-3 months now every other day or so.  I hate to think what she has been doing.  I'd like to know that someone cares because the Kansas City School Board apparently doesn't.   PLEASE HELP

I would probably call the school district and ask when they are going to pull their head out of their a**, remove the number and try to find the right number to call.

Probably a "phantom" student for which the district receives state educational money for.

You need to own up to your responsibilites and get the poor child to class, otherwise she won't be a proud KCMO graduate.

It's people like you that keep the graduation rate below 50% for the entire district.

It wont make any difference.. the parent of the student obviously doesnt care if they dont even make sure that the people that their kid spends all day with, have a way to reach them..

I feel your pain when my daughter is sick and I do call in for her I still get a call from the school and the recording says "your 7th grade student was missing in periods 1 and 11 today" #1. I called and reported her absent.
#2. They don't have 11 classes at school.
And this is Independence Schools so go figure.

I have a close friend that also receives these calls in Independence Mo. He has used the same phone number for 30 + years & never had children?! what happened to having human beings on the other end? my kid miss a few classes & the principal calls me personally! Thats why, I left the city almost 10 years ago!

I'm only guessing, but the school might get the phone numbers from the children themselves. If the student is the type to skip school all the time, they would also be the type to just make up a number. I just hope she's not out getting pregnant and end up on the Maury Povich with a bunch of guys playing who's your daddy.

You should call the school back at random times and have her excused from class for an appointment or something.

LOL

That way she can skip and you won't get the phone calls 3 months later.

I would show up at the school next time you get a call and ask to see Gracie and go from there.

We've dumped billions of dollars into the school district and it is still a complete joke. Just change your phone number.

Don't waste your time. If the people that work for the district actually went to the schools, they're probably illiterate anyway.

Like someone wrote previously, next time you get the call take the time to just walk right into the school and tell them the problem. Can't reach them by phone then just walk in, then they have no choice but to listen. You never know. Good luck. Or you try checking "myspace" since you have her name and maybe you can get some info there to help you out. Lots of kids have myspace pages and they are full of info that should probably not be published but may help in locating, not sure if that is what you wanna do but it is a suggestion.
