The Greensburg Tornado: One Year Later

Each year, more than 1,000 tornadoes touch down in America. Most do little damage, but occasionally they devastate populated areas. That's exactly what happened in Greensburg. A giant EF-5 tornado hit the Kansas town on May 4, 2007.

On Sunday, America remembered the devastating storm. Myfoxkc.com brings you complete coverage:

President Gives Commencement Address
President Bush hailed the resilience of Greensburg and its tiny high school graduating class Sunday, one year after a tornado barreled through with astonishing fury. Never before had Bush delivered a commencement address at a high school, and his presence was meant to reflect how far Greensburg has come. Read more.
Anniversary Events Fill Weekend
While the president's visit was the highlight of the weekend, there were plenty of activities and ceremonies marking the anniversary of the tornado. FOX 4's Susan Hiland and Dave Stonebraker show us how far the small town has come since it was destroyed last May. Watch the video.
Rebuilding A "Greener" Greensburg
Some wondered if Greensburg could ever make a comeback after 95 percent of the town was leveled. FOX 4's Paul Herdtner reports that, with the help of a Kansas City-based architecture firm, big dreams are being fulfilled and a greener Greensburg is sprouting up from the ruins. Watch the video.
Kansas Jayhawks Doing Their Part
The University of Kansas Jayhawks are helping keep Greensburg green, too. Several students from KU's School of Architecture hope they can make an example out of their design for a multi-purpose arts center. FOX 4's Megan Cloherty explains how the kids from Studio 804 are pitching in. Watch the video.
