As I say, I like impatial reporting and am now watching KCPTV and Bill Moyers report on this poster boy for Republican politics(up till his acts were exposed to the light of day a few months ago). No wonder Republicans go after public broadcasting since its does not sucumb to pressure from advertisers and others. Watch it people, it explains a lot and the Republicans will see a lot of their good ol boys, Tom Delay, Newt Gingrich and Carl Rove.

I'm deep into preparing and sending out Christmas cards right now. It's something I enjoy doing, expressing my best wishes to family, friends and business contacts for a joyous holiday season and new year full of peace, happiness and prosperity. I used to send out a couple of hundred but I'm starting to cut back. For example, I'm dropping off a few old friends from college I don't really hear from anymore. And some business contacts are no longer as close as they once were.
I'm receiving far fewer holiday cards from others, as well, both at work and at home. My mailbox at FOX 4 used to be stuffed with cards each day for three weeks before Christmas.
I don't know if I've become less important to people or if the combination of very busy lives and the Internet is having an impact now on this tradition as it has on so many others.
I still see a lot of holiday cards for sale in shops around town but maybe people are getting fewer of them and paring down their lists even more than I have. Perhaps to none at all?
What about you?
Are you sending out cards? As many as before? How about the receiving end? Getting fewer? More? About the same? Why?
What do you think about this tradition and its future?

Temptation is where it all begins, usually by people you thought was your friends. Days of watching these friends made you curious, this new utopia was very mysterious. They raved about feeling like superman, that there's nothing else like it in all of the land. They all seemed fine with no reason for alarm, then you join in seeing no harm. First, second, third time for you now, this feeling is wonderful damn it's like WOW! Though you don't know it or feel it temptation is the past, now you can only think of how can I make this last? You stop showing at work and ignore family and goals, no time for that now it's claimed your soul. It's the first thought when you get up in the morning, without it life seems pointless and boring. Many months later you feel you need it right away, friends you thought were friends have robbed where you stay. Reality is now fierce in your face, now you have nothing not even your place. What used to make you feel very awake and move quite quickly, now you must have to prevent feeling sickly. You are utterly alone and your mind begins to race, You must find some NOW, just one more taste! Just one more and I promise no more, this promise you keep cause your heart stops as you walk out the door...
Meth causes destruction and pain, try it once and your life it will claim. In the world of meth you will find no happiness, only a coffin and family left in sadness. This story is scary and may leave you feeling cold, I wrote from my experience I know it sounds bold. It's the story of meth life as it unfolds...

It would be a shame for Roger Kemp to rest his crusading spirit after Benjamin Appleby's conviction. He should continue in the foot-steps of John Walsh and try to help a lot of people. He certainly has exhibited the tenacity to see this through and keep the police & prosecutor's moving forward.
How about it Roger?
I think that you could do a great job!

It started as a story about a father's love for his son, stationed in Iraq. It's now the story of a father, a son, and a passion for eachother, their country, and...BBQ!
Yes, that's right. BBQ. The kind you can't get on the front lines. Kansas City BBQ, by way of Olathe.
Carl Lodder contacted the Fox Four Problem Solvers with more of a puzzlement than a problem: how do I get BBQ to my son and his buddies at the air base they're station on in Iraq? And not just a shipment. Oh no. A BBQ expert, who is willing to fly over, build a grill or two, and BBQ! Even better, teach his craft, and leave it all to the base so they can continue to enjoy a taste of home.
Enter Paul Miller of Olathe's Big Bubba's BBQ. Paul, aka "Big Bubba", has been serving Carl and his family BBQ for some time. That's who dad turned to hoping to get just a shipment of ribs and such to a son. But Bubba said no, that wouldn't work. "Let me go", he implored, "and we'll cook for thousands!"
Not an easy thing to do logistically, but I loved the passion of these two, and their mission. So it's "Operation BBQ", and we're helping by making some congressional contacts, and getting the word out.
But there's work to be done here too: Carl (dad) and Paul (Bubba) want to build an organization. But they need legal help, accounting help, money help, people help.
Staff Sgt. Jason Lodder confirms it via e-mail: he and his buddies crave a taste of home. They love their country and their Q.
If you can help, contact Carl Lodder at 913-829-1918. Leave a message on how you can be reached.
One more, unique way, to say thanks to our troops. A little slice of brisket....a little slice of home.

I just read an article on MSNBC.com about video game violence. It was talking about how a bunch of scientist took young kids and had them play a violent and non-violent video game to determine so type violent arousal activity in their brain. I thought the study was interesting, but it didn't prove any kind of point. The overall issue in the article was that playing violent video games will make people violent. I admit a play a few games here and there, but to blame the violence people do to each other on video games is quite the understatement. People want to blame violent games for everything now, because they don't want to take responsibility for their own actions. There are plenty of violent movies and tv shows that young people are exposed on a regular basis that actors performing such acts, will more or less arouse someone to want to possibly try to do what they see on tv. I think people should spend more time knowing the difference between reality and non-reality. Games are no more violent than real life.
