ST. LOUIS (AP) -- An outdoor free movie series that premiered in St. Louis is going statewide this summer.

FrontYard Features began showing films in neighborhoods around St. Louis last summer. The non-profit was able to fund the movies through local business advertising, corporate sponsorship, and with help from neighborhood associations.

Founder Martin Casas says this summer FrontYard Features is going to Kansas City, Jefferson City, and a lot of other Missouri towns.

Casas says the free movies are a good way to get neighbors together and highlight local business and community organizations.

Shrek the Third will play in Rolla on Friday and the Bee Movie in Wildwood on Saturday.
