So, Sally was censored in her acceptance speech at the Emmy's. The screen went to over all picture and not on her and her speech.
At tonight’s Emmy Awards show, the audience cheered Sally Field’s acceptance speech, which recognized the mothers of U.S. troops. “Surely this [award] belongs to all the mothers of the world,” she stated. “May they be seen, may their work be valued and raised. Especially to the mothers who stand with an open heart and wait. Wait for their children to come home from danger, from harm’s way, and from war. I am proud to be one of those women.”
Field then continued, “If mothers ruled the world, there would be no –” But the Fox Emmycast cut off her sound and pointed the camera away from the stage, silencing the rest of her sentence: “god-damned wars in the first place.”
Technically, Field’s censored words are not profane. A 2004 FCC ruling specifically stated no objection to the use of “god damn” on TV when making a judgment on the uproar over Bono swearing at the Golden Globes in 2003 where he used more colorful language.

If you think she was censored for her language, then you my friend are wrong. She was censored for her speaking out and saying that there would no wars if mother's were in charge.
As it goes there has been countless foul language on tv and no one was censored. Examples:
ER
Dr. Mark Greene: I've been a jerk. Carol Hathaway: Worse. Dr. Mark Greene: Pain in the ass?
Dr. John Carter: You look tired. Abby Lockhart: Really? Dr. John Carter: Come to think of it, Frank looks tired, too. Abby Lockhart: Yeah, that's because I spent the night slapping his ass until 3:00 a.m.
Malik: Let the bastard die. Dr. Mark Greene: He's a patient like any other. He gets our best effort.
Alex Taggart: [to Luka, while playing a video game] Bite me, you Slav bastard
Dr. Kerry Weaver: Carter, take our friend here, I'm afraid I might stick an IV pole up his ass.
LOST:
Sawyer: Son of a BOOGEDY.
Locke: You want your damn thirty dollars back? I want my kidney back!
Desperate Housewives:
Gabrielle: Damn it, John! What's our new rule?
Edie: I know who she is. She's a man eating, scum sucking hoe bag.
So yes you would have to agree with me on this one and say it was because of her beliefs and that she spoke out against the war.
I was starting to despair at the prospect of having to give up more of our precious freedoms. When suddenly, seemingly, out of nowhere, [ well really out of the dusty old Reagan playbook ] there is perhaps a tiny glimmer of hope.
Some of the candidates for the worst job on the planet, have found their collective spines! They are actually starting to say what most of us out here in fly-over country have been saying for years. There may be hope yet! We all know the difference between right and wrong, or "right and left " just kidding, I don't want any rabid responses from any crazy socialists, but you know what I'm saying here. As children, we were taught not to steel, lie, cheat,or otherwise injure someone else. We also knew from a young age, that life was not going to go our way all of the time. Why did my children know that they could'nt have everything just handed to them? Because their Mother and I told them, " If you want beter things than you have now, you have to work hard for them.
Why is it that a certain segment of this society does not know how to obtain a better life? Because someone, [ from the government ] told them that they'd be taken care of. That my fellow citizens, is not compassion, it is CONDESCENSION !!!
If we can all work together, as we have in the past, we will perhaps survive as a Nation undevided and leave this world just a bit better than we found it.
My husband is a finish trimmer he worked for Trimmasters Commercial Inc. for 21/2 yrs. out of Raytown, MO. We turned him into wage & hr. for OT pay 2yrs. ago. This employer owes$3420.00 in OT pay from the 1st investigation. After my husband quit we turned in another claim for hrs. Wes Binder (owner of Trimmasters) put in my name but I never worked for him. He did it to keep from paying OT and for OT hrs. that he still put in my husband's name but only paid straight time. By the time wage & hour does the 2nd investigation this man will owe about $6000.00 in OT pay. We couldn't turn him in for hrs. he put in my name till my husband quit cuz he would of known who turned him in and fired my husband. I contacted Congresswoman Nancy Boyda's, Senator Pat Roberts office so far none of them can do anything to help us or won't. I e-mailed your president and called the White House several times but he won't answer me back. This employer is doing the trim work at a retirement home in Olathe. They couldn't start the work till they all passed a drug test none of them could pass. After they finally passed a drug test they could start working. I don't understand why your government will not help us. They have all this power to do things but they don't give a s*** about the little people. I have no use for the government . Your president will do anything for other countries but nothing for us.We need money to get our sons wisdom teeth extracted braces for our daughter. Senior pictures for our son and a class ring. If we could get somebody to make this employer pay what he owes we could get all this done. If anybody knows of anything we can do to get some help I am begging for help! I hate to beg but we need some help. It has done been proven the government don't care.
Headline says Obama gets Oprah while Hillary gets Magic. So I guess that means they both lost. Funny, Oprah never backed a candidate before, until Obama. HMMMM!
Ok.......I have a question. As of yet, no one seems to be able to answer it. Yet it is a term that has been in the media and every where else over the last few years. So here is the question. Please feel free to give me you answers and opinions.
I agree with him 100 precent and think all cars should have cameras.Mo is poateing them at stop lights for us .Plus they can be helpful in times like that with the world going the way it is today we need to protect ourselfs any way we can I was in a hit and run one time I found the guy myself police only had little to go on. Have had a stop that did not go well in which I was right. I think for many reasons cameras in cars should be standard.
It seems to be the month for Missourians to stand out at important congressional hearings. Ike Skelton had a horrible situation with the protesters inside his hearing. I was pleased that after having several removed politely for disrupting the hearing, he then announced that all future disruptions would be prosecuted.
Those of us against the war need to realize that some ways of objecting to the war stand a chance of getting better results than others. Screaming & yelling while wearing a pink paper tiara doesn't win influence. It's disrespectful to a General who risks his life trying to make an impossible situation work. I don't necessarily agree with everything he said, but I think he deserves better treatment than he received.
The Moveon.org ad refering to him as General "Betray us"was wrong as well, on every level. It doesn't convince people to be against the war, it convinces people that everything they've ever heard about liberals is right. Moveon.org should apologize to the General for not giving him the chance to speak before attacking him personally. (They might also consider a donation to a wounded vets charity in the same amount as the ad cost them.)
Those against the war need to take time to listen to why some people want to continue the war. I may be against it, but I also realize that Iraq is an everchanging situation that needs constant re-evaluation. We must not compound the mistakes we made with our invasion. We have to get this right. Anti-war activists do their cause and their country an extreme disservice when they act the way I watched today. For years, we have demanded an honest discussion from the White House, today's hearing may not be perfect but it's a long ways from the lies we heard during the early days of the war.
Now is the time to contemplate the thoughts of the military and the thoughts of the politicians and make a decision on where we stand as a nation on Iraq. Then pick up a phone and call your elected representatives. Tell them how to vote. It's your right. WE'RE AMERICANS! If they don't vote on war related bills the way you want, vote for somebody else next time.
And to those individuals who will try to use the idiots from today's hearings as a way to put down discussion on the war....DON"T. The demonstrators in Tiaras have a right to dissent (I wish they wouldn't), they have a right to be wrong or even just misguided. But they don't represent ALL anti-war people anymore than Fred Phelps represents all Christians.
Let's look at the war in other terms than just "black & white" or "red & blue". Today's hearing was at least a start on real discussion. And while we discuss, we all need to realize that how we say something is as important as what we say. Pink tiaras make a statement!
Kudos to Freshman Senator Claire McCaskill for her recent work on the audit of the Iraqi benchmarks. Her past experience as a state auditor showed as she asked detailed questions concerning the methodology used by the GAO to reach it's conclusions.
She has been demanding and shown a real understanding that one of the most important roles of the legislative branch of government is oversite of the executive branch. While she is a Democrat, her questioning of the Auditor General was not partisan but technical. It was also comprehensive. She claims to have read every page of the report & by the end of her questions I have no doubt that the Auditor General believes that she has read every page.
Her attention to detail is admirable. Her avoidance of partisan speechmaking while asking her questions was a rarity for the panel she sat on. Her questions were thought provoking. It is truly scary how many dollars are being wasted in Iraq. This is not a partisan argument against the war. Regardless of your viewpoint of the war....signifcant sums of capital are disappearing in Iraq. Maybe if we stop hemmoraging money into Iraq, we can find a way to put that money to good use in this country.
I hope that she will become an example for the rest of the Senate on how to conduct the business of government. Too much of thier time is wasted on the business of politics. With respect to President Truman....GIVE 'EM HELL, CLAIRE!
THE WAY ALOT OF AMERICANS ALREADY MESS UP CHRISTIANITY, WHY WOULD OSAMA WANT US TO CONVERT TO ISLAM AND NOT FOLLOW ITS RULES, JUST LIKE WE'VE MESSED UP NOT FOLLOWING THE BIBLE. THE WAY THIS COUNTRY IS GOING, WE WOULD SUE OSAMA FOR TRYING TO FOLLOW THE QURAN BECAUSE IT TALKS ABOUT ALLAH (GOD). HE SHOULD REALLY THINK ABOUT THAT REQUEST!!
i know if i was to get stopped for drinking and driving as many times as all the nasty overpaid undereducated so called rollmodels that are on the news night after night, i would be in prison for years not minutesor hours. i feel that putting hillton, lohan, and any other trash on everynight is insane... it shows our children that being drunk, high, and bearly dressed is ok. put them in jail and not some country club. Vandila, fulton, lansing. show them the treatment the poor people get. they aren't sorry or they wouldn't be on the news more than once. lock them up and take everything they have... equal rights no such thing
When my son was diagnosed with autism there were a million things going through my head. One of the most prevalent was the thought that he would never be a normal boy and that all of my dreams had been wiped clean. I felt as though my little boy would never lead a "normal" life and that nothing good could ever come of this "autism". That was 11 years ago. In those eleven years I have learned many valuable lessons from my son. I would like to share some of them with you. My son has taught me compassion. I have eaten so many words that I shall be full forever. I will never again look at a child having a meltdown in the store and think that he needs a good spanking or that his mother is not a very good mother. I will look into her weary eyes and try to convey my understanding. My son has taught me that. My son has taught me honesty. He never sees a good reason to lie. He is probably right. He will never break anyone's heart, steal from another the things that they have worked so hard for, or get something that he doesn't deserve. He won't lie to protect himself from punishment or to get out of something. He will take the consequences of his actions because he simply doesn't see that there is any other way to live. Truthful is the only way to be and my son has taught me that. My son has taught me tenacity. So many days I would like to just go back to the way that my life used to be. To not have to research, advocate, call, write, get to know my legislators, get to know my administrators, or fight one more battle. But, if I don't, who will? Who will be the person that makes sure that he lives up to his fullest potential, if I don't? My son has taught me to never quit. My son has taught me to be supportive. Before he was born I was happy keeping my house spotless, my garden weedless, and my life simple. Because of him I have learned the value of support. Giving and receiving. I have met wonderful people and I thank God every day that He brought us together. I constantly hear that God doesn't give us more than we can bear. I believe that He does. I believe that He also gave us each other knowing that we would support each other and help each other get through this. He also was so wise as to give a scientist the idea that we would be needing Lexapro and that it needed to be developed. My son has taught be to be assertive. I had always believed that the experts knew everything and that we should blindly place our faith in them. I now know that is simply not true and that without questions there can never be any real answers. I have learned that we will never be given anything without making it available and that requires a lot of diligence and hard work. I have learned that we can put a man on the moon, but we can't teach the engineer, that made the shuttle, social skills. My son has taught me charity. He is willing to give anything that he has to someone that has less. He would give his most prized possession to another child. He would move a homeless person into our home. He would give his food to a hungry person. My son has shown me how selfish I can be and what the true meaning of a giving heart is. My son has taught me love. He loves with no conditions. In his eyes, I am the most beautiful woman in the world. In his eyes, I am the most intelligent person on the planet. In his heart, I am the best Mommy that God ever created. Our lives are not what we had expected. He will never be the president of the United States. He will never be the CEO of a Fortune 500 company. He will never be a lawyer or a doctor. In reality, I have no idea what his future holds. But, at night when I lay down beside him and look into that angelic face, I can't imagine him any other way. By Sherri Tucker
ABC putting the message out that Clinton is unbeatable because of the money she has raised. Even if she is out there more, she is only overly reconfirming the reasons I and others wouldn't vote for her. Bill stated that anti-Hillary voters are republicans anyway and she can win without them. How is it right that the amount of money can determine our next president. Can't anyone see the wrong in this?
On another subject,,,,,If she does get elected, whats the chances Bill gets caught with his pants down during the next four years. The democratic principle isn't the only fear we face, as their cause of American standing among other countries. I'd rather have them upset with our policy than laughing at us.
You know what, instead of Bush sending everybody else's kids other than his own to Iraq for a war he believes so much in or all these suicide bombers and terrorists from the insurgencies fighting American kids, etc. How about we pit George Bush in a one on one fight to the death with Bin Laden or whoever the hell our government thinks is in charge. I think it would be better than sending our kids to fight an oil tycoon's war. I'm not just talking about Bush (before all you one sided republicans start jumping in about Clinton) I think that's how world problems should be handled let the world leaders duke it out and we can all watch on pay-per-view.....lol.....wishful thinking. No offense republicans, this was an example of my idea.
For many, it seems that the right way is synonymous with anti-immigration.
I read in the Sunday Star (9-2-07) that Janet Murguia thinks this is a "dark moment in our history," and that "[w]e are in real trouble." I ask, what trouble is she speaking of? For whom are the moments dark? Murguia fails to recognize, as with millions of others, people like Blunt aren't to blame for attempting to impede or punish ILLEGAL immigration. I am reminded of playing baseball in college. When one guy screwed up, the team paid the price. It was a way of building solidarity and putting accountability on each individual. I didn't want to screw up because I didn't want to let my team down, or have them glaring at me because we had to run extra foul poles. Once again, a liberal movement barking up the wrong tree. I suggest Murguia look to her own constituents to place blame. It is not the laws' fault that people decide to break them.
I was under the understanding that blogs were peoples own thoughts and feelings. I also thought there was a difference between a blog and a message board/discussion board. A few days ago I blogged and a couple of people felt free to personally attack me and be insulting. When I stated I was done with the topic, it had been fully discussed and nothing was happening but insults, I was insulted yet again.
NEWS FLASH: Telling someone to quit whining, and go on a diet have nothing to do with discussion of a topic. A personal attack does not exchange thoughts or ideas. If some people can't have a civilized adult discussion then they should stay off the blogs and keep their small mindedness to themselves.
All a person has to do is have a little tact, be polite and have manners; but ofcourse that is what the first blog was all about.....
It is long past due to round up all the Illegals and send them packing home! I am so tired thinking I am in Mexico when I fly into kansas city. I lived in KC for 30 plus years and moved out to the UK to get away from all the mexicans.
I'm a bank teller. We have signs in the lobby saying that we won't help you if you are on the phone. Some people are amazed and shocked that we wouldn't want you on the phone, others are pleased and say they wish more places were like that. I just don't understand. It should be commonly understood that if you are interacting with another human being, you shouldn't be in the phone. A bank teller is not an ATM, we have feelings and we have questions to ask and things to tell you, you should be available and paying attention to the business at hand. I'm old enought to remember when the first phones came out, people had manners about it then, they don't anymore. You should not be on the phone at a cash register in a store or fast food restaurant either. I myself do use my phone when i'm waiting in a line but when i'm the one to be helped I either hang up or put the phone down next to me. Be Polite, Smile, Talk to the Person helping you and have a great day!!
Everyone is up in arms over Sen. Craig (R-Idaho) being caught soliciting sex in an airport bathroom. It's disgusting. It is sad. It's a really GROSS story. It's pretty pathetic when you consider many of his past remarks on gays & marital infidelity. It also comes complete with a LOT OF JOKES for the late night talk shows. IT IS NOT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING HAPPENING IN THE WORLD!!!!! (Though it does remind you why your Mom wanted you to avoid public toilets!)
There are real issues in Washington concerning what to do in Iraq, how to handle health care, what has happened to our Justice department. Where is the public outcry on these things? Like the bumper sticker says, "if you aren't appalled...you aren't paying attention". People are dying overseas and most of us have never even picked up the phone to call our Congressman's office to let him/her know how we feel.
Where were the screams of the public over the Attorney General? The "liberal media" screamed, but I always felt the screams fell on deaf ears. Our Attorney General of the United States either lies to the Congress or has such short term memory problems that his competence is questionable. (Can he even remember to zip his fly?) When Republican Senators demand that you quit because of the damage you are doing to the reputation of the Department of Justice, you've really screwed up!!! But most people were more concerned over Paris Hilton getting special treatment in jail than the treatment the Constitution was getting.
But let the Senator from Idaho get caught & everyone's talking. The bottom line is that the man is a closet bathroom queen who got caught...let's move on to something that really matters. (And isn't so gross.) He's not the first pervert to be elected to Congress. I'm sure the voters of the extremely liberal state of Idaho will take care of the problem for us in the next election.
