When the "Bodies Revealed" exhibit opened, I was shocked at the thought of these, once living human beings were going to be on display.  I felt it was morally wrong.  However, after hearing that these "people" had donated their bodies to science, I figured, what the heck, if it didn't bother them to be plasticize and put on display, why should I care.  I did  not visit the exhibit because of my moral beliefs.  Apparently the exhibit was a huge success.
I heard two days ago that it had been discovered that not all the bodies that were on exhibit had not donated their bodies to science, including being on public  displayed, do to lack  of or forgery of their signatures.  Isn't it strange that this was discovered just 4 days before the exhibit closed?

Since there is only one candidate for each party, why is it necessary to have these elaborate, expensive conventions to nominate the candidate for each party.  Tax payers money, somehow is paying for these extravaganzas.

With the economy suffering so badly and the American tax payers struggling to make ends meet, why not use this money to do whatever can be done to help them.  Instead it's being spent on elaborate staging, parties for all that attend, so they can get drunk and pat each other on the back.

Isn't this the time to break with tradition and to use some common sense? These conventions are not necessary just an excuse for more political hullabaloo which in these tough times, are just plain stupid.
We already know who the Candidates are!

I can't really say that this should be listed under Entertainment.
Does anyone watch the sitcoms Two and Half Men, How I Met Your Mother, The New Adventures of Old Christine?
I have watched them occasionally just to see if there's anything different about them but have found they're the same garbage.
Does anyone think they're funny or entertaining?

I heard on the news about the kids from Africa touring America, performing to raise money for an orphanage in Africa.  There equipment was stolen from their van, which was a terrible thing.
My question is when did we start allowing people from other countries to come here  to raise money for their own country.  I know there have been concerts, here for Aids and Relief Aid, but they were put on my pop stars.  Has there been a change, that anyone can come here and raise money?  Don't the Americans give enough of their tax dollars to the third world countries?  Am I totally missing something here?

Obama's not even president, yet and already there was a plot to assassinate him in Denver.  Maybe he should drop out right not, before someone else plans the same thing.

The St. Joseph's Diocese is settling the law suits against the priests accused of sexual abuse.  They will see that they are removed from priesthood but they won't face any criminal charges.  Does anyone think that's fair?  If a lay person is guilty of the same crime they go to prison.  Why aren't priests treated the same way?  Their flesh and blood like anyone else.  What's even worse is they've not only broken "man's law" but also God's law.   Is it just because the Catholic Church has so much money and can afford to buy their way out of punishment?  That is at least in this life.

This is the first time I'd heard this one.

New Credit Card Scam

Snopes.com says this is true. See this site - http://www.snopes.com/crime/warnings/creditcard.as
p

This one is pretty slick since they provide YOU with all the information, except the one piece they want.

Note, the callers do not ask for your card number; they already have it. This information is worth reading. By understanding how the VISA & MasterCard Telephone Credit Card Scam works, you'll be better prepared to protect yourself.

One of our employees was called on Wednesday from 'VISA', and I was called on Thursday from 'Master Card'. The scam works like this: Caller: 'This is (name), and I'm calling fr om the Security and Fraud Department at VISA. My Badge number is 12460. Your card has been flagged for an unusual purchase pattern, and I'm calling to verify. This would be on your VISA card which was issued by (name of bank). Did you purchase an Anti-Telemarketing Device for $497.99 from a Marketing company based in Arizona
 ?'

When you say 'No', the caller continues with, 'Then we will be issuing a credit to your account. This is a compan y we have been watching and the charges range from $297 to $497, just under the $500 purchase pattern that flags most cards. Before your next statement, the credit will be sent to (gives you your address), is that correct?'

You say 'yes'. The caller continues - 'I will be starting a Fraud investigation. If you have any questions, you should call the 1- 800 number listed on the back of your card (1-800-VISA) and ask for Security.'

You will need to refer to this Control Number. The caller then gives you a 6 digit number. 'Do you need me to read it again?'

Here's the IMPORTANT part on how the scam works.
The caller then says, 'I need to verify you are in possession of your card'. He'll ask you to 'turn your card over and look for some numbers'. There are 7 numbers; the first 4 are part of your card number, the next 3 are the security Numbers that verify you are the possessor of the card. These are the numbers you sometimes use to make Internet purchases to prove you have the card.. The caller will ask you to read the 3 numbers to him. After you tell the caller the 3 numbers, he'll say, 'That is correct, I just needed to verify that the card has not bee n lost or stolen, and that you still have your card. Do you have any other questions?' After you say No, the caller then thanks you and sta tes, 'Don't hesitate to call back if you do, and hangs up.

You actually say very little, and they never ask for or tell you the Card number. But after we were called on Wednesday, we called back within 20 minutes to ask a question. Are we glad we did! The REAL VISA Security Department told us it was a scam and in the last 15 minutes a new purchase of $497.99 was charged to our card.

Long story - short - we made a real fraud report and closed the VISA account. VISA is reissuing us a new number.
What the scammers want is the 3-digit PIN number on the back of the card Don't give it to them. Instead, tell them you'll call VISA or Master card directly for verification of their conversation. The real VISA told us that they will never ask for anything on the card as they already know the information since they issued the card! If you give the scammers your 3 Digit PIN Number, you think you're receiving a credit. However, by the time you get your statement you'll see charges for purchases you didn't make, and by then it's almost too late and/or more difficult to actually file a fraud report.

What makes this more remarkable is that on Thursday, I got a call from a 'Jason Richardson of Master Card' with a word-for-word repeat of the VISA scam. This time I didn't let him finish. I hung up! We filed a police report, as instructed by VISA. The police said they are taking several of these reports daily! They also urged us to tell everybody we know that this scam is happening.

As I said, I know this isn't news, but I really could use some help.  I'm looking for a cast aluminum dining table and chairs for a patio that seats 8 to 10 people.  Do any of you have any suggestions where I might find something like this in the Johnson County area?  Please let me know ASAP.

Thanks

I'm sure everyone has heard the latest that American Airlines will be charging, returning service men/women for checking their luggage, on their commercial flights.  Yes, they say that can apply for a refund of the charge, from the government, but we all know that all the paperwork and red tape isn't worth it.   I don't understand AA's thinking.  How can they possible due this, in good conscience?   Actually, I think they should let them fly free of charge.  If not for their service to this country, the airlines  would be faced with much bigger issues than fuel costs.  This is just one example of big corporations greed.  Maybe that's one of the reasons AA is having to lay off 600 people in K.C.   Could it be that people choose not to fly on a money hungry airline?  If they'd cut the enormous salaries of their "upper echelon" they could afford some of the "little niceties" in life.
If all the airlines adopt AA's practices, guess I'll go back to driving.
I know  some  of the other airlines  are staring to charge for water, soft drinks, pillow and blankets.  Just remember who started this fiasco.  So far Southwest says they won't inject these practices.  FLY SOUTHWEST!

What's with the poor forecasting? I know I heard Karli talking about rain moving down from Nebraska, last night.  Where did it go?  The same thing happens over and over with Mike Thompson.  Am I wrong, but is the only way they can tell what the weather is going to be is to look outside before they give the weather report?
I realize that in this part of the country, the weather can change in a matter of minutes, but isn't meteorology a science?

I got in on part of a story on Fox 4 News at 10 PM last night about Latino families being up in arms because their kids are being forced to speak English only in school.  I checked Fox 4 website to see if there was any more information, but as so often is the case, there was nothing.
If anyone heard about this I'd really appreciate knowing the details.

Thanks.

I emailed Tyson Foods, today, concerning the blog that MissNancy and JKJr had posted.  Below is the response I got back from Tyson Foods.
If I were to believe their explanation, and I'm not saying that I do, it sounds like "Blackmail" by the unions and/or B.S.

There seems to be much to complacency regarding immigrants, legal or illegal.  When does it end, when this country goes bankrupt financially or morally,  or both?

Still Recognized at Tyson Foods
Union Contract Provision only at Shelbyville, TN Plant

Springdale, Arkansas - August 4, 2008 - Contrary to recent reports,
Labor Day is still a holiday at Tyson Foods. This issue concerns only
the plant at Shelbyville, TN. The majority of employees at the Tyson
plant in Shelbyville, TN, are represented by the Retail, Wholesale and
Department Stores Union (RWDSU), an American union that asked for and
received Eid al-Fitr, as one of their eight paid holidays, in place of
Labor Day. This applies only to the Shelbyville plant and resulted as
part of the union contract negotiated last fall. This change does not
apply to Tyson Foods' other 118 plants. This is not a religious
accommodation, rather, it is part of a union-initiated contract demand.
This change came about as a result of union demands brought to the
negotiating table, and was agreed upon by Tyson in an effort to reach a
contractual agreement with the union. The contract that calls for this
change was unanimously recommended by the 12-person union bargaining
committee, which included three Somali employees. The contract was then
overwhelmingly agreed to by 80 percent of the rank and file membership
of the union at the Shelbyville plant.
The Muslim population at the Shelbyville plant is primarily composed of
approximately 250 Somali employees, who are political refugees, most of
whom came to the plant as a result of refugee resettlement efforts based
in Nashville. They were employed at the plant through the Tennessee
Department of Employment Security office.
The Shelbyville complex employs approximately 1,200 people.
Approximately 1,000 workers
are covered by the union agreement at Shelbyville.

Libby Lawson, a Tyson spokeswoman, noted that the plant had three
Christian chaplains, and prayer rooms for Muslims and Christians alike.
Each plant at Tyson Foods provides a chaplain as an extra benefit for
its team members and their families. The chaplain is an ordained
minister, endorsed by his or her church to serve as a chaplain. Tyson
Chaplain Services provides compassionate pastoral care and ministry to
Tyson Team Members and their families, regardless of their religious or
spiritual affiliation or beliefs.

After reading this blog, I can't believe there's anything else to say.  This says it all, and very well, I might add.

I heard the story on the news, yesterday about Tony Gonzales preforming the Heimlich Maneuver, on a total stranger, while having dinner in a California restaurant.  Being a big Chiefs Fan and a huge fan of Tony, I say he's not only a great football player, but a great human being.  A real asset to Kansas City.
