Jennifer Hudson's mother and brother died of fatal gunshot wounds Friday (October 24), police have confirmed to MTV News.

A Chicago police representative said the singer's mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson, and older brother, Jason, were killed. Donerson was 57 years old; Jason was 29.

Officers received a call shortly before 3 p.m. Friday, the representative said, and upon arriving at the residence, 7019 South Yale Avenue, found the two victims. The incident has been declared a double homicide; police emphasized that this may be a domestic situation.

Julian King, Hudson's young nephew, who had been living at the residence, has been reported missing. Chicago police confirmed to MTV News that the child may be in the company of identified suspect William Balfour, an African-American male in his late 20s, who is considered armed and dangerous. Balfour is out on parole from the Illinois River Correctional Center on attempted murder, carjacking and stolen-property charges, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections. He was sentenced to serve seven years in 1999. He's 5-foot-5 and weighs 147 pounds.

A Corrections rep said that Balfour was paroled in 2006; he was set to be discharged from that parole in May 2009.

According to the Amber Alert issued for King, he is wearing a brown, striped polo shirt and khaki pants. He is 4 feet, 11 inches tall, weighs 130 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair.

Balfour had been living at the residence, according to public records, and may have had a romantic relationship with Hudson's sister Julia, as vehicles are co-registered to both of them. Police said Balfour is believed to be driving either a white Chevrolet Suburban, 1994 model, with the license plate X584859, or a green Chrysler Concord, with the license plate 332K823.

According to public records, the home is owned by Hudson's mother, but both Jennifer and Jason have been listed as residents for the second apartment. A neighbor, Vanessa Stanton, told ABC News, "Jason was a good person. His mom was too."

Chicago Police Deputy Chief Joseph Patterson told reporters at the scene in a press conference that neighbors reported hearing shots between 8 and 9 a.m. Friday morning. Patterson said a family member called police upon finding the body of Hudson's mother on the living-room floor, and when authorities arrived, they found the body of Hudson's brother in a bedroom. There were no signs of forced entry, and police are unsure if anything is missing from the house.

"We have some promising leads right now," Patterson said, "but it's very preliminary."

The Tribune reported that Hudson is not injured, according to her bodyguard. ABC News reported that Hudson was traveling to Chicago from Tampa, Florida

I've tried out for American Idol on Augst 8th 2008.It was amazing to see what goes on behind the scenes of the popular show on Fox TV Network.I met alot of people from out of state and it was a reunion for me and my sister seeing people we haven't seen since high school.I got to sing for other fox networks that was out there which was a stepping stone for me.I spent years singing and writing &  producing my songs. Anyway it doesn't end there, Ryan Seacrest made an appearence and i was very hyped up and excited. As I waited for my turn to do my audition it was a very long wait but it was a dream that I wanted to fulfill and I followed it.I was cut from the second round and I was crunshed but I was told to never give up.Now that it's done and over with I still do my networking on MySpace doing my music.I was asked to do shows in music festival in September and hopefully to other more advantages out there to pursue what I have more passion for which music.

i'm trying out tomarrow for american idol.i'm so syked about it.i'm doing it because my passion for music always been.my fiance is very happy that i'm pursuing my dream and making sure i go too.lol he's a sweetheart oo.anyways wish me luck!

well i know when your in the system your basically marked for the rest of your life. i understand that much. my friend was on the work release program in wichita and ready to come home to live hs life.part of his program is to attend meetings every week and pay the fee on time as well.took all his classes and passed and manditory to hold a job til his release.no problems til a new manager started there.he was telling me that she was doing unappropriate things and saying stuff to get a reaction from him but he ignores her,mind you this is three weeks before this happens now. so last week what happens a customer called in on him saying that he was talking sexual stuff , "you look like candy and i would like a taste". STOP RIGHT THERE! i know he wouldn't talk that to me or nobody else, that coming from him i dont think so. the manager who is wanting his attention so happens to tell him that a customer called the job ,named him specifically ,saying that he said that. it was annonomys (however you spell it) caller.they didnt leave no name or number just for the records.i know in businesses you have to do so (names and contact numbers) in any cases besides sexual harassments complaints, am i not correct? i know in my heart he didnt do this and they know he didn't or else they wouldn't suggest appealing it.

as for the manager at the job she was in the wrong.it's b/s. i'm scared for him cause i haven't talked with in awhile.

i do believe when i comes to a person that is marked by the system,thier going to look at that person before they look anywhere else. i really feel so bad about whats going on right now.it's like a case of unjustice to a person that wants to live their life, this goes for anyone. i don't have any power of anything just trying to get something like advice to relay to his mom.

kdoc does stand for kansas department of corrections.the story i have to admit is complicated we call his counslor at work release but she is never available to talk.she says to appeal but never gave him no papers to appeal.that my friend is b/s.and if he has to go back to kansas corrections we want him closer to home, i tink it will help his time go fast.we're trying to get him at lansing at lease cause two of his family are ill and one is teminal .is there a chance to call topeka or somebody in wichita?

I have a friend who was supose to be release from kdoc in june,but a false acusation was brought up and they are detaining him  at sedgewick county.they already took six months goodtime from  him meaning extending his time in kdoc til december of this year. i think and everyone else thinks it's b/s. His mom wants him home, so does everybody else. Nobody won't say anything to us andwe're looking for some possible advice , legal advice that is. from what i heard it's appealable but we not sure the outcome. PLEASE HELP!

Well today I just got the awakening of the day. That somebody just told medical business on the job.I was so hurt I actually cried.It was so hurtful my reaction went in all four directions.So I called to tell the head supervisior about it and all I got was, just let it go,don't worry about it. Okay something like that is not hard to ignore.Does anybody agree with me? Especially when it told in confidence to a person that I thought could trust and nobody isn't suppose to know.Right now I feel like wanting to quit, not going back at all.To be completely honest right now I'm very upset.If anybody has any helpful advice to help me out I would really appriciate it.

I work in KCK at the Legends Shopping Center.I really love it out there.I met the most incredible people who works in the mall.Mostly and not least my favorite place is Dave & Buster's and The Saddle Ranch is off the chain at night time.I shop on my day's off as well after work, is that crazy or what?!
