I had the pleasure of attending a portion of the Relay for Life 08 Raytown Youth last night.  They moved the event indoors to the Gym due to the soggy football field, but that didnt dampen spirits for this group of great teens.

The candle light vigil wasnt lost due to the move inside, the group leaders moved quickly and got glow sticks and necklaces to light up the students and the luminaries. It was a beautiful thing to see the gym lite up during the vigil with only glow sticks.

It was a very emotional night to say the least. To see so many students participating in such a worth while cause. One student lost a loved one just yesterday, another lost her father in March and one that was walking/running in honor of his mother that is fighting the battle today. While my son has never experinced a loss of a close loved one. So many young lives touched by the effects of cancer.

I am very proud of this group of students that went to school on friday and then attended the Relay for Life at 7pm to 7am saturday. Most students had been up since 6 am on friday and vowed to stay awake for over 24 hours.

It is a very proud moment for this mother to witness my son participating is such a wonderful event.

When todays youth often gets a bad wrap, last night proved to me that we do have youth that have huge hearts.

After a devastating loss to the Grand Rapids Rampage, what is the answer to the Brigades answer to pull the team out of the slump they have fallen into?

Last night my hopes were positive to see a new QB in the game, those hopes were dashed shortly after the first of 5 turnovers.

That brings to question, is it Coaching that needs a change? Is it the team was coming off a bye week and just flat out didn't have their heads in the game? Is it all together the team needs a major overhaul? This is not the team that went to the playoffs last year.

Kevin Porter needs to do something and needs to do something fast. The Brigade are looking at playing the next 4 games against 07 playoff teams.. We are 0 -3 if something doesn't happen fast we will be an 0-7 team faster then we know it.

Only losing the first two games by 3 points at least gave us hope cause they could keep the score close but last night was embarrassing to say the least.

I hope on Saturday when they play the San Jose Sabercats we see an entirely different team show up to play some serious ball!!!

Tonight was the Home Opener of the KC Brigade. I am curious as to how many in KC know that we have an Arena League? This is our 3rd season with the League and with KC being a Football city in the fall for the Chiefs I was just wondering where all our Fans were at tonight? They had a good crowd but lots of empty seats.

They have moved to the Sprint Center. I was very impressed with Parking. That was one of my major concerns with the big move downtown. Gotta to say it was easier to get out of downtown then it ever has been to get out of Kemper.

GO BRIGADE!!! and People say that KC football was over when the Chiefs ended yet another disapointing season.

(this was my first blog so forgive me for rambling)
