Frank Boal
Frank Boal

Frank Boal has been the Sports Director at FOX 4 since 1981. Frank also appears Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on Sports Radio 810 WHB.

In addition to his regular anchoring and reporting duties, Frank anchors the popular 'FOX 4 Sports Sunday' show aired on Sunday nights during FOX 4 News at 10.

Frank is no stranger to sports. He was a star running back on his Central Catholic High School football team in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1964, his team went undefeated and was the #1 ranked team in the state of Pennsylvania. It was the first undefeated team in school history. In April 1999, Frank and his teammates were inducted into the Central Catholic Hall of Fame in honor of that achievement.

Frank went on to Villanova University where he was a three year starter and co-captain of the Wildcats from 1966-68. He racked up over 3,000 yards of total offense (rushing, receiving, punt and kickoff returns) and still holds the school record for punt return yardage in a career. (Frank Boal Honored At Villanova)

After graduation, Frank coached football at Villanova for five years. He later left the coaching ranks to follow his dream of being a broadcaster.  Working first in radio, then crossing over to TV, Frank moved up the broadcasting ladder with stops in Grand Coulee and Lake Chelan, Washington; Eureka, California and Green Bay , Wisconsin before joining the FOX 4 Sports Team.

Frank has covered every major sporting event, including the Royals 1985 World Series Championship, Major League All-Star games, the NFL's Chiefs; Missouri, Kansas and Kansas St. college athletics; the former Kansas City Kings and NBA playoffs; and golfing Hall of Famer Tom Watson.

Off camera, Frank gives his time to various area charities.

Frank and his wife, Jan, reside in Overland Park, Kansas. They have five children and one grandchild.
