KCMOtransplant's Blog

I just wanted to say something positive about Kansas City... What a joy to see WICKED at the KC Music Hall!!!

I was truly stunned and amazed that a show of such amazing caliber would be brought to KCMO.

I hope everyone in town has the opportunity to step outside their normal grind to go see it!

In a world full of computer addiction, TV couch potatoism, and whatever else one can do to waste time, this might be the best 3 hours you will spend in a long time!

The play is appropriate for families... GO SEE IT!

Just what about the title and subject matter could be considered "Family Friendly"?
Just what sort of family would it be appropriate for?

This is the 'behind the scenes' Broadway Musical based on the book, Wicked. It tells the story of the witches from the Wizzard of Oz.

The website for the musical gives this synopsis:

long before Dorothy dropped in, two other girls meet in the lad of Oz. One born with emerald green skin, is smart, firey and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. These two unlikely friends end up as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch, makes for th emost spellbinding new muisical in years.3

considering the repsonses that I have deleted, I am now safe in assuming that you a holes are just a bunch of uncultured idiots who NEVER take the time away from your precious poker playing to look into live theater or musicals.

As far a what family is this appropraite for, well, if you were a born again bible freak who doesn't want their kids exposed to the Wizzard of Oz, stay the hell away. However, if you attended even ONE Harry Potter movie, or would even like to have a story of friendship shown in a unique way... this would be a great movie to take your family to. I wouldn't think that someone would pay $100 a seat to take a young child...

Another thought, why would you see a title like WICKED and assume the worst?

Just like munchikins... so small minded.

Maybe this blogg thing is just for people go get on line and be a jerk... my dad always said... People's names and People's faces often seen in public places. However, with the power of the internet, you don't have to show your name or your face.

GROW A CLUE!

I thought I was asking legitimate questions. I have never heard of it before. From the title one could assume anything hence the reason I asked. Maybe you need to go back to your home city with that attitude.

If you have deleted comments; then may I assume you are against free speech? Liberal?

To John.....YOU are the one that came here with the attitude. You judged something on name alone.
WICKED is probably way above your head anyway, it speaks of being non-judgemental.

Amy; Are you illiterate? The first post; I asked questions because its a one word title. A word alone leaves too much to the imagination.
But you are probably right that its not for me but for stuck up judgemental snobs such as yourself. The arts and crossiants crowd.
I hope you have a good time feeling superior at the show!

Your judgement, not mine.

"for stuck up judgemental snobs such as yourself."

Who is being judgemental? Take a look at yourself before saying that statement!

I'd feel superior if I had a hundred dollars for a ticket.

I guess i should have just stayed quiet and let you guys duke it out! lol

as far as the messages I deleted.... you wouldn't believe the BS that was written. I'm all for free speech, but this is MY blog, MY post and I am not a wiccan or satanist. The play had absolutely nothing to do with any religion...

It had a lot to do with being free minded and open hearted about people who might seem different.

As for 100 per ticket. You know, I could go to the movies 4 times for that and waste 2 hours of my night... or go to one incredible event every few years that warms my heart and excited my enthusiasm for music and drama.

The price of the ticket should not make anyone feel superior. It's all about choices. I don't live in a house that I can't afford. I don't drink or gamble. I simply chose to attend an event here in KCMO that would normally only be offered in New York or LA.

When Kansas City has big events come to town like Bodies in Motion, Monet Exhibit, BBall Play offs, Dead Sea Scrolls, or musicals like Wicked... we all should seriously consider a sacrifice to attend an event that would NEVER be offered in a smaller city.

I was only pointing out that a hundred dollars is, to me, a lot of money. Not because I spend my money gambling or drinking. Basically it's because I stepped in between a rapist and his intended victim and ended up on disability. Of course it took almost two years to get SSDI and I lost my home and ended up living in my car. The feeling superior was satire. I feel neither superior or inferior to no one. I enjoy and dislike all types of art. Live performances are invigorating and it would be great if they would do at least one performance for those who can't attend for financial reasons, especially the children, when appropriate, it has the power to inspirer and change lives.

I'm aliitle late here, but, Thank You KCMOtransplant for the insight on WICKED. That being said, I would like to just say this sight is getting out of control. I come on to read just the sort of thing you have offered, but get so frustrated, by the time I get to comments by others its just endless slams and insults. Rest assured, by the time I've been through all the blogs, I sure am glad I'm ME. There seems to be NO tolerance for anyones opinions, just my way...my way....my way....I hope I get to go to WICKED.

Linecrosser, I surely didn't mean to imply that you were a drunk gambler LOL. I think you get my point though, that we all make decisions on how we spend our money. For me, those tickets were my birthday gift to myself and therefore from my hubby (BIG LOL!!!) and it was well worth it for me to forgo random gifts of clothing or a necklace or whatever he might shop for to go see this and have those memories forever.

Harleychaser, you are so correct about this site. If I would have left the hateful comments attached to my post, the conversation would have gotten WAY WAY off track.

As for tickets to see Wicked, I know they are almost sold out. But if you try for tickets on a week night, you might have better luck. Go to the box office during the day to buy the tickets. If you go on ticket master, you might end up with "BEST AVAILABLE" and those might be the 2 seats at the top that have NO leg room.

Good luck!

Only those with money to waste, would ever waste the $100.00 for anything as frivolous as a play,as for free speech,it`s your blog and you can delete what you like or dislike,I do the same, but I also try to where it is going before I delete.Just like my first statement,to a poor person $100.00 is a huge amount of money to spend on something so frivolous, and what kid could afford it? You have the right to spend your money on whatever you like and delete any comments you dislike,I thought your post title was a comment on kc not about a inside look at the make believe characters from the wizard of oz.

I wanted to go with my daughter. We love live theater. It was $125 if you wanted to actually see it, and a little less if you were willing to sit in the balcony and NOT see it. Too bad a cultural event has to be so proud of its seats. I guess we'll wait for the movie.
