I thought AI was a singing competition, not a writing competition. David Cook has not disappointed his fans. He continues to rewrite, rearrange, make new covers, making completely new Cookiefied songs for all of us to enjoy week after week after week. It is now expected from David Cook to produce a NEW song every week. Is it fair? Probably not. Do the judges expect the other contestants to produce a new song, even one time? Nope! The judges and Cook fans (including me), are now addicted to David Cook and his NEW songs.

Listen to "Hungry Like The Wolf" a couple of times and tell me that DC doesn't have a unique style and sound.  Wasn't David's growling rough edge to his smooth voice enough to sway the judges? Why did DC feel he had to apologize for this genius music? Simon says to DC after he sang "Baba O'Reiley,"--"Welcome back, David Cook"--where did David go? David didn't go anywhere, Simon. David's right here in my heart, and all of our hearts. His music expands our minds. He gives a new look to old songs. His covers are relevant to today, and he speaks to our hearts in a new language, Cookmania. People all over the world are catching it, and learning the new language.

Come on, judges, give David Cook the props he deserves. Does this musical genius really have to prove himself by rewriting old songs every week? Can't we just listen to him sing straight up, and enjoy him? Yes, but DC struggles for perfection, and that includes his creativity and originality as well as his vocal chords and lungs and heart, and lovely lips with perfect diction, and perfect vibrato.

Cook for President! But first, Cook for #1 American Idol. (Then he can marry me, and rock me to sleep every night with "All I Really Need Is You"!!!!  Yeah!)  How many marriage proposals have you gotten so far, David Cook?  David, you can add mine, but I'd really like you to ask me instead! LOVE YA!

He needs a new hairpiece for the chrome dome.

Lose the gruff look.

Singing other people's songs doesn't make him a genius.

mpvan-they are forced to sing others songs on this show. He does have original material that he and his former band did and it was actually quite good. He also did a solo album/CD. In fact of any of the recent AI contestants, his music is probably the only one that I would pay money for. He does have the right stuff to succeed. Sometimes, these people just need something like AI to get them the exposure they need for their talent.

jp-I just like his music. I am a male and heterosexual. He has a sound that is very similar to other groups that I like. (Train, Creed, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots) He is also local and I pull for the local guy wheteher it be an AI contestant or a local versus national restaurant.

Don't attack someone just because they have a different opinion than yours, it almost sounds like you are jealous, or something. David Cook looks just fine to me the way he is. David Cook is original and he does rearrange music to fit his style. He does make changes to other artists covers, and those artists have praised his work--check it out! David Cook has a way of changing a song up to where it has a different meaning. You can actually feel your mind expand when you are listening to his music. He makes you think. Actually, that seems to be the problem this year with AI. The judges are satisfied just to simply hear his beautiful voice, perfect pitch, and lovely vibrato. Everyone is now addicted to David Cook's NEW songs. He takes old songs and makes them new. He adds his smooth voice with the grunge rough edge, and ends up with a sexy sound that no female can resist. I'm telling you, he slowly seduces us with his sweet tunes and fireworks performances until we don't know what has hit us until it is too late, we are Cookies forever! And this is an artist you can respect. He is has already demonstrated that he is educated, articulate, intelligent, patient, talented, original, creative, and OMG you people should feel honored to have someone like David come from this part of the country! BTW, I don't take away from the props the military people should receive when they come home from the war...and we need to put everything in perspective. Life goes on, sometimes things are hard, but you do the best you can. And you celebrate one another's achievements, not belittling them, b

David Cook's band was Axium and the name of the homemade CD is Analog Heart. I understand that idol pulled it from sales. I don't know whether it was because it was outselling Mariah Carey's #1 or because they want to reissue it later. I heard it was in the works...

jdem- that remark (made jokingly) was directed toward squirelly.

jpbikerfreak--No, I wouldn't, because I'm too smart for that. I believe that the majority of David Cook's fans are probably above average in intelligence. I could go into why I believe that, but it would be like wasting time and air...I think for myself, and I have original thoughts, and I don't need to ask someone else what they think before I form an opinion!

My bad jp. That's the problem with the format of these blogs. Not sure if someone is responding to what you say or what someone else said unless they put a heading on it.

I love music, and I am totally COOKIEFIED! David Cook is now my favorite artist. He makes me feel like I'm 14 again. His performances make me melt. So that would make me a melting Cookie. I love DC, and think he is a musical genius! I like to sing karaoke, hiking, and traveling. I went to Israel, Egypt, and Greece back in the mid '80's. I've been to Cancun, Mexico and the Bahamas, and Canada. I love rock music. I've sung many songs from many artists at Karaoke. Some of my favs include: Ozzy (Paranoid/War Pigs live version, Ironman, Fairies Wear Boots), Steely Dan (Do it Again), Aerosmith (Dream On), Moody Blues (Nights in White Satin), America (Sister Goldenhair), Neil Young (Heart of Gold), Collective Soul--can't believe David Cook is singing this song!! (The World I Know), Carly Simon (You're So Vain), Deep Purple (Smoke On the Water), Nancy Sinatra (These Boots Are Made For Walkin'), Weezer (Hash Pipe), Fleetwood Mac (Gold Dust Woman and Stop Draggin' My Heart Around--duet), Green Day (Boulevard), Stones (Paint it Black), Def Leopard (Pour Some Sugar on Me), Animals (House of the Risin' Sun), Badfinger (No Matter What You Want), Turtles (So Happy Together)--didn't hear DC do this one, but I'm sure he does it better than I do, Cream (White Room), and Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes (Journey to the Center of the Mind)--(great song BTW, showstopper, first psychadelic song I ever heard).
