Nick, Is there a way online to look at the "total traffic plus" feature that you have on your news, that shows all of the moving cars and scenery?

New Law Bans Big Trucks From Left Lane
Last Edited: Tuesday, 26 Aug 2008, 3:50 PM CDT Created: Tuesday, 26 Aug 2008, 2:50 PM CDT

There are some big changes for big trucks on Missouri interstates.

Starting Thursday, trucks weighing more than 48,000 pounds can no longer travel in the far left lane on highways in urban areas throughout the state.

Sgt. Scott Meyer said the areas most affected in the metro will be I-35 from Parvin Road to 210 Highway and I-29 from 169 to KCI Airport.

This applies mostly to semi and heavy-freight trucks and the rules will be enforced in Missouri's urban areas.

Trucks will not be banned from the left lane in rural parts of the state.

Missouri State Troopers said this new law will affect the St. Louis area more, since they have more interstates that are three lanes in each direction.

Semis over the weight limit will still be able to ride in the far left lane if there's construction or an accident, but otherwise they'll have to drive in center or right lane.

If truckers are caught in the far left lane, it's a moving violation.

THANK YOU, IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!

Hey FORMER Mayor K Barnes(Barney) another stupid idea of yours like the Sprint Center, is the Power & Light District. It's a place for political snubs! All it does is promote alcoholism. How is it family friendly? Hmmm. The only venues are bars, where are decent non drinking families going to take there children in the Power & Light district? Tell me.

Story c/c'd from http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20071030/ts_afp/consumerhea
lthfoodchildren

In announcing its bad products awards for 2007, Consumers International said the top prize went to the US subsidiary of Japanese firm Takeda Pharmaceuticals for promoting a sleeping drug for children.

Another award went to drinks giant Coca-Cola for pushing marketing "into the realms of the ridiculous" in the United States and South America with its Dasani bottled water which is sourced from the same reservoirs as local tap water.

Kellogg's, best known for its cereals, was given a bad food award for the worldwide use of cartoon characters and marketing aimed at children despite the high levels of salt and sugar in some foods.

"Kellogg's are one of a number of international food companies that make money by selling products high in fat, sugar and/or salt," Consumers International said.

Toymaker Mattel was also named over the global recall of more than 19 million products made in China because of high lead levels and small magnets.

Last month the US toymaker apologised to China, saying the vast majority of recalls were due to design flaws and had nothing to do with where the toys were manufactured.

But here's a even worse story here in our own metro area last night. A gentlemen's house was robbed late last nite and when he returned home inside he found his dog(a good sized one) had either been beaten to death or shot by the intruders. The dog was probably doing his job, defending the house. That is so sad.

ST. JOSEPH, MO -- A man's truck was stolen, but it's not his vehicle he is so concerned about, but what was in it.

If you own a pet you know how dear they are to your heart. So imagine your vehicle and your dog were stolen on the same day. Well, that is exactly what happened to a St. Joseph man.

Francis Heines' 75-pound golden retriever mix was no where to be found after Heines said he parked his car here along 5th and Francis. He got out and was gone for about 20 minutes. When he came back there was no truck and no dog.

"I wasn't concerned about the truck," Heines said.

Fueled with memories of his four legged pal named Blonde, Heines did some police work of his own.

"Lo and behold, we had been looking for about 20 minutes and there's my damn truck," Heines said.

So he followed, and then a bad move by the thieves.

"They just passed me so fast and then I turned down here on the belt and plowed right into that truck right there and three little guys got out and started running as fast as they could."

The boys were caught, but there were no signs of the dog.

"If they took the corner too fast it wouldn't surprise me that she would bail out," Heines said.

So Heines spent Monday searching through the streets of St Joseph in hopes of any signs of the pooch.

"We got the dog pound looking, the city police looking and anybody else," Heines said.

Now surrounded by his cat and family dog, Francis just hoped his phone will soon ring with word his dog has been safe and sound.

Blonde is a Chow/Labrador mix with no collar and she has a black tongue. If you see her you should call St Joesph Police or Animal Control.

Police are releasing very little info about the thieves since they are juveniles.

Yea our website is live, open to the public, and now we can't get comments back from you the viewer, wether they are good or bad, we still want them. I myself like the Traffic maps, for some reason I'm just fascinated with maps. I wish there were ways that we could chat with the people that were signed on to our website, that would be cool, or even if we could tell who was online. Or just even have a simple chat room would be nice... Just some suggestions.. Happy reading, and blog yall....

Hey all viewers. Well I love my job, working overnites and guarding the desk. Sometimes it can be rockin here and sometimes it can get real slow. But on overnites you get to see the day begin. I get to see a story evolve and by the end of the day or when I come back in at nite I get to see how it turned out, or if anything else ever became of it.

Let me count, we have approximately 20 scanners on the desk, and the desk is broken down to 2 sides left and right, but at night your responsible for both sides. Now we also are the operators at night, answer all the incoming phone calls. Some callers are very informative, they have breaking news or have information related. Some people call and want lottery numbers or have questions about there tv service or are just lonely.

Back to the desk part of the job, "deskers" for a better name, we monitor the scanners for the greater kcmo metro. It is our job to gather as much info as we can about a incident on the scanner, send a photographer/reporter if needed and do the follow up work. Basically confirm everything with the proper officals before it hits the airwaves. And I am a stickler for that, If I can't confirm it, my reporters won't be reporting it.

I think the most stressful part of our job is working the desk during adverse weather conditions. There are so many opinions that news media have versus what the viewers think about weather and tv reporting that I really would like to refrain, I plead the fifth.

Well I need to run for now, sounds like the fax machine is spewing out more information.

Entertainment,Um, not alot actually pretty boring, I don't drink, don't party, don't smoke. Love to hang out at a secret spot at KCI and watch the planes come and go. Harrah's Casino Buffet is a good place to find me. I'm also a people watcher, if you've ever watched the music video with Sammy Kershaw in the airport you'll know what I mean. Lately between work and home that's all I get done. Shopping is a blast when there's money to do it, or what I really do is spoil my kids rotten, that's my job!!

It was great, perfect weather, we BBQ'd twice, I spent most of my time either in the hammock that we finally found time to put up or, sittin in the lawn chair, or cruzin the back 40 on my riding mower. I love it when the weather is like this, love to sit outside, but can't stand the bugs.

On Friday we went to Salina and picked up a 2nd German Shepherd,, she's a beautiful dog, her name is Kia, we got her from a animal rescue in Prague OK, where we got our last Shepherd in Feb of 05.

So I'm working Dog Watch for a bit, can go from slow to crazy in a matter of seconds, but I would rather have it that way.....
