He served his country and gave more than 99% of every other American out there including me. He and his father-in-law have both lived the American dream and have benefited from the work they have put in. Because McCain is successful then Obama is attacking him saying that McCain is not in touch with the American People.
Obama himself made over 4 million last year. He just returned from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii and his own house cost 1.65 million dollars.
Obama's plan is to raise taxes and is opposed to producing more energy here in America as gas prices have reached an all time high. This shows that he is the one out of touch with the average American.
Yes, wind and solar energy can be the energy of the future, BUT that is in the FUTURE and not attainable now. The answer is to pursue making wind and solar and other energy more attainable and effective but until they are effective then drilling for the oil under our own soil. We have 7 times more oil under our feet then what Saudi Arabia has available to them but we are not allowed to access this oil. Instead we are sending more and more money into the hands of terrorists.
And Oil companies are not the bad guy here. Their profit margin is 4%. It was 4% last year and the year before and the year before etc. etc. But our own government profits 15% from our oil. Yeah, who is the real bad guy? Exxon spent 8 BILLION of their own money trying to get more oil in canada since our own congress will not allow us to drill here.
I received this email purported to be written by Dr. Jack Wheeler. Whether it was or not is inconsequential because the perspective offered is one I had not considered but found it to be interesting enough to share with all of you:

The O-man, Barack Hussein Obama, is an eloquently tailored empty suit. No resume, no accomplishments,no experience, no original ideas, no understanding of how the economy works, no understanding of how the world works, nothing but abstract empty rhetoric devoid of real substance.
He has no real identity. He is half-white, which he rejects. The rest of him is mostly Arab, which he hides but is disclosed by his non-African Arabic surname and his Arabic first and middle names as a way to triply proclaim his Arabic parentage to people in Kenya. Only a small part of him is African Black from his Luo grandmother, which he pretends he is exclusively.
What he isn't, not a genetic drop of, is African-American,' the descendant of enslaved Africans brought to America chained in slave ships.
He hasn't a single ancestor who was a slave. Instead, his Arab ancestors were slave owners. Slave-trading was the main Arab business in East Africa for centuries until the British ended it.
Let that sink in: Obama is not the descendant of slaves, he is the descendant of slave owners. Thus he makes the perfect Liberal Messiah.
It's something Hillary doesn't understand - how some complete neophyte came out of the blue and stole the Dem nomination from her. Obamamania is beyond politics and reason. It is a true religious cult, whose adherents reject Christianity yet still believe in Original Sin, transferring it from the evil of being human to the evil of being white.
Thus Obama has become the white liberals' Christ, offering absolution from the Sin of Being White. There is no reason or logic behind it, no faults or flaws of his can diminish it, no arguments Hillary could make of any kind can be effective against it. The absurdity of Hypocrisy Clothed In Human Flesh being their Savior is all the more cause for liberals to worship him: Credo quia absurdum, I believe it because it is absurd.
Thank heavens that the voting majority of Americans remain Christian and are in no desperate need of a phony savior.
His candidacy is ridiculous and should not be taken seriously by any thinking American.
Watching the DNC is better this year than the previous years...I guess because I'm older and I care about what's going on in my country, & I'm paying closer attention. My daughter will vote for the first time because she just turned 18. Now my point to this blog is this. I feel I have every right to jump up and raise my fist in the air and scream when my taxes are being raised; or when the price of gas raises again. It's my privlege to make comments about Hillary's speech as well, or gasp because Obama has been voted in for the Democratic nonimee. I have these rights because I'm a registered voter and have been for years. So, fellow bloggers, if you're not a registered voter, you have no right, IMO, to gripe, sneer, gaffaw or show gestures when the wrong man wins the Presidental election. I've been listening to the public and reading the comments by some who don't wish to vote and the reasons they have. Bottom line. If you didn't vote you have no say in the matter. So, be still. Many men fought for our right to vote. So, get off your fanny and get registered. Vote and be proud you did vote and be proud we live in the greatest country in the world where we can vote!!
Not with a bang but a whimper, the Clinton era ended. An angry and frustrated Bill Clinton could only watch as Hillary's pitifully shrunken delegate numbers were posted on the counting board. It was enough to make a devoted husband wish his wife had clung to her own name.
With the vote, the last vestige of the "old" Democratic Party was swept away. No more "the middle way," no more of the relative moderation of the Clinton years. The sea of black, female, gay (but not necessarily cheerful) and radical faces at this convention testify to the celebration of the spirit of the '60s, the most squalid decade of a grim and contentious century.
Tonight it's the Anointed One taking center stage, the stage moved to the Denver Broncos football stadium so he can make the speech of his life against the backdrop of a facade of plaster columns worthy of the righteous wrath of Samson. They're calling this one the Temple of Obama. But facades are fragile. We know what happened to Samson.
The Obama camp, if not the senator himself, is nevertheless growing increasingly nervous that they haven't put up enough mirrors or conjured enough smoke. He ought to be already getting his poll bounce, padding what he expected to be a comfortable lead. But neither the emotional accolades of Teddy Kennedy nor the oaths of loyalty from Hillary, manufactured overnight of high-impact plastic, have moved the needle.
On the eve of what should be the biggest night of the nominee's career, the campaign dispatched its legion of lawyers to attempt to suppress the First Amendment in pursuit of squelching a television commercial asking inconvenient questions about Mr. Obama's friendship and association with two violent and unrepentant '60s radicals.
The campaign commercial, not authorized by the McCain campaign, makes no wild accusations, raises no questions about anybody's patriotism, but asks pointed questions about a man's judgment in choosing his friends.
The Ayres connection, and what can be made of it, frightens the Obama campaign. There's no question that the senator has been pals with William Ayres and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, and what we know about that friendship is damaging enough. Mr. Obama launched his political career at a fundraiser in the home of William Ayres; Bernadine Dohrn was the evening's hostess. The two men served together on a foundation that dispensed money to left-wing causes and institutions in Chicago, including the Rev. Jeremiah Wright's church. The two of them appeared in tandem as recently as 2002 on a panel at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The panic-like reaction to the new television commercial suggests there may be other things someone doesn't want us to know.
Having watched two nights of speeches, and ramblings, and political satire on CNN, PBS, and various other networks that are covering the DNC convention... I find myself wondering why any moderate would vote for John McCain.
Now, understand, I have spent the past two years researching the candidates, and making a very well educated decision on who I will be supporting. As a Moderate who leans a bit left on some issues, and a bit right on others... I find myself in the situation where at one time, I would have supported the GOP Nominee, but alas... he has failed miserably as the "maverick" he once was.
You see, I am for Fiscal Responsibility... something the GOP has not managed to support in the past 8 years. I am also against the war in Iraq... not for any grand reason other than it was mismanaged, and started on false pretences, and it's costing us 10 Billion a month. There is no failure here, other than that of the current Administration and the Pentagon for failing to plan this out responsibily.
McCain is all for war... he thinks like many Presidents in the past.. that war will increase the economy... give us jobs... and so forth. He can not admit that continuing to put our troops in harms way in Iraq, is stretching our Military to the point that an attack on Israel or Poland from one of our other enemies, might put us in a real bind militarily.
I'm no expert on Military matters... but I am a history buff, and I can tell you, that if we are stretched out... and focusing on Iraq... other areas we will lose focus on. Example.. Afghanistan. We have not had the presence there we need. We need to focus on that conflict, and get out of Iraq responsibly. Then when Russia attacks one of our allies, we can respond swiftly, and effectively. Our Reputation in the world is tarnished by the acts of this current Administration.
I am also concerned with allowing the Far Left and Far Right dictate what policy is. I have seen the original Maverick start catoring to the Right, so he can get the Base of his party's votes. This concerns me. He's jumping on the Oil Bandwagon, when we need to think outside that particular "box". 8 years ago, he ran for president, and 8 years ago, I would have voted for him. However in 8 years, he has not stuck to his guns, and he is bowing down to the Extreme right within his party, and the Oil Industry that has a hold on the Grand Ole Party.
I was concerned about Obama and the left... but as I continue to listen to, and read on his ideas, what will be his policy, I realize that even though he is more liberal than I like, he is more likely to reach across and work with the other party on the Policy he would like to see made into law. His Energy Policy is much more profound and progressive than that of his rival, and it really has an ultimate goal of energy independence and security for our nation. McCain's does not. His calls for drilling more oil... which that alone, continues to keep this country addicted to oil. That is not going to help any of us in the long run. Besides the fact is, the Oil Industry has plenty of off shore leases they haven't even explored yet... so what is the point of giving them more?
National Security... so many believe that because John McCain is a war hero, that he is the best person with regards to National Security. I think not. Again, we need a Leader that can think outside the box... so to speak... can think beyond the Military and to the future of our place in the world... McCain, unfortunately doesn't have many years left, and he can't and won't think past the next four years... this is an issue for me.. and for many others...
Biden will do this for Obama... That team... will be hard to beat.
Our National Security will be made better by Securing our Borders and Ports. By declaring all Gangs and Drug Cartels as Terrorist Organizations. By making it impossible for illegals to prosper in this country... and by punishing the Corporations that hire illegals in the first place. Our National Security will be better by Strengthing our Diplomatic Presence in the World... by putting a stop to Terrorism, and working hand in hand with the rest of the world to do so.
When we are forced into a conflict, we strike hard and fast... and then pull back and let Nato, or the UN sort it out... But we make sure that we are prepared to strike... which means continuing to train and recruit our military... and using the National Guard here... to protect our borders. Why the National Guard? Because, the Drug Cartels are invading this country along the borders, and our border patrol is not equipped to deal with the problem...
Religion, Abortion, Gay Marriage, and Evolution...
These are social issues, but should not be the focus of our Presidential election... except Evolution, this is really a Religious issue... the Far right will have the children of this country so dumbed down in science, we will never prosper in the global market. IF the Right Wing has it's way... our students will be forced to learn Creationism, or whatever other name they are using to hide what it is... instead of true science... and by doing so, our children will not have the education to compete in the global market... this dumbing down by the Right Wing is to allow Religious beliefs dictate what is taught in our schools... and allow the "Church" to gain more control of our lives...
The Catholic Church tried this in the past... it didn't work.
Economy, National Security, Immigration, Border and Port Security, Energy Independence, global warming, etc... these are REAL issues... and I want to know what they have to say about them.
Moderates, Centrists... WAKE UP... it's time to take this country back from the nut jobs... pay attention this week... and vote for the candidate that represents strength and compromise...
I'll have to say Hillary had her speach designed to feather her nest for the 2012 election for President. She's wanting to get into the Whitehouse as Ms Prez and will use every tactic to do so...I'm not the one who is saying this. One of the commentaters on Fox News said this last night. I agree w/ him. She was full of dynamite and raren' to goooooo!
She thinks she's a rock star. She had the smile, the glitter, and yes, the bright orange pant suit.
DENVER (AP) - Barack Obama is striking back fiercely and swiftly to stamp out an ad that links him to a 1960s radical, eager to demonstrate a far more aggressive response to attacks than John Kerry did when faced with the 2004 "Swift Boat" campaign.
Obama not only aired a response ad to the spot linking him to William Ayers, but he sought to block stations the commercial by warning station managers and asking the Justice Department to intervene. The campaign also planned to compel advertisers to pressure stations that continue to air the anti-Obama commercial.
It's the type of going-for-the-jugular approach to politics many Democrats complain that Kerry lacked and that Republicans exploit.
Obama's target is an ad by the conservative American Issues Project, a nonprofit group that questions Obama's ties to Ayers, a founder of the Weather Underground organization that took credit for a series of bombings, including nonfatal explosions at the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol four decades ago.
The lone financier of the anti-Obama ad, Texas billionaire Harold Simmons, was also one of the main funders of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth who targeted Kerry. Simmons, a McCain fundraiser, contributed nearly $2.9 million to the American Issues Project, according to documents filed by the group with the Federal Election Commission.
Fox News and CNN have declined to air the anti-Obama ad. But by Monday afternoon, the ad had run about 150 times in local markets in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia and Michigan, according to Evan Tracey, head of TNS Media Intelligence/Campaign Media Analysis Group, an ad tracking firm.
Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor said Obama supporters have inundated stations that are airing the ad, many of them owned by Sinclair Communications, with 93,000 e-mails. He called the ad false, despicable and outrageous.
"Other stations that follow Sinclair's lead should expect a similar response from people who don't want the political discourse cheapened with these false, negative attacks," Vietor said.
Sinclair offices were closed late Monday and officials there could not be immediately contacted.
"It seems they protest a bit too much," American Issues Project spokesman Christian Pinkston said. "They're going all of these routes—through threats, intimation—to try to thwart the First Amendment here because they don't have an argument on merit."
Ayers is now a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He and Obama live in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood and served together on the board of the Woods Fund, a Chicago-based charity that develops community groups to help the poor. Obama left the board in December 2002.
Obama also was the first chairman of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a school reform group of which Ayers was a founder. Ayers also held a meet-the-candidate event at his home for Obama when Obama first ran for office in the mid-1990s.
Obama has denounced Ayers' past activities.
"Barack Obama is friends with Ayers, defending him as, quote, 'Respectable' and 'Mainstream,'" the group's ad states. "Obama's political career was launched in Ayers' home. And the two served together on a left-wing board. Why would Barack Obama be friends with someone who bombed the Capitol and is proud of it? Do you know enough to elect Barack Obama?"
In a letter to station managers, Obama campaign lawyer Robert Bauer wrote: "Your station is committed to operating in the public interest, an objective that cannot be satisfied by accepting for compensation material of such malicious falsity."
Bauer also wrote to Deputy Assistant Attorney General John C. Keeney, noting that the ad is a "knowing and willful attempt to evade the strictures of federal election law."
The campaign's aggressive tactics could draw more attention to a subject the campaign wants to go away. On Tuesday, the University of Illinois at Chicago will make available records of Obama's service on the board of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. The group was set up to improve the city's schools. The documents could shed further light on whether Obama and Ayers had a relationship.
The American Issues Project is a 501(c)4 nonprofit corporation. It is permitted by law to air a political ad provided that the majority of its spending is nonpolitical. It cannot accept money from corporations and it must identify the donors that finance its ads in reports to the Federal Election Commission. Pinkston said the group has set aside money to carry out non-election related work to meet the legal requirements. It filed a report identifying Simmons as its sole donor for the ad last week.
In the Obama campaign's own response ad, an announcer states: "With all our problems, why is John McCain talking about the 60s, trying to link Barack Obama to radical Bill Ayers. McCain knows Obama denounced Ayers' crimes, committed when Obama was just 8 years old."
The McCain campaign cannot coordinate efforts with outside groups. But the campaign took advantage of being the target of the response ad.
"The fact that Barack Obama chose to launch his political career at the home of an unrepentant terrorist raises more questions about Senator Obama's judgment than any TV ad ever could," said McCain spokesman Brian Rogers.
Mrs. Obama is a beautiful, articulate woman who gave a nice talk about her nice brother, nice parents, nice husband, nice life. The children are adorable and, of course, nice.
What I could not help but notice was the liberal intent to reinvent America. Also, the comment, "...it is the country I love" appeared more forced than sincere. If there is anything about this country she loves it is the liberal vision for what it SHOULD be instead of what it is. Of course, with her husband being the most liberal Senator in Congress, he and she feel that we should be a socialist republic at best and a communist regime at worse.
It was refreshing not to hear the standard, angry, hateful diatribe from this lady. I certainly give her kudos for that. This time, in front of a national audience, I am sure the Obama handlers gave her strict instructions and probably crafted much of her speech. She had obviously practiced her delivery, appropriate voice intonations, hand movements, smiles, etc. It was delivered well, albeit more staged than heartfelt.
I did not list all points given by Snopes for Obama. However, the list for McCain was only five points long (one of which was true, two undetermined and only two false). The Republicans should be ashamed of themselves for taking such actions to wrongfully spread this BOOGEDY. I am forced to correct your wongs and I don't even like Obama!
Obama's not even president, yet and already there was a plot to assassinate him in Denver. Maybe he should drop out right not, before someone else plans the same thing.
WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT TO TURN ON THE TV AND HEAR ANY U.S.PRESIDENT, DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN, GIVE THE FOLLOWING SPEECH?
'My Fellow Americans: As you all know, the defeat of the Iraq regime has been completed.
Since Congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission in Iraq is complete.
This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American forces from Iraq . This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now time to begin the reckoning.
Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries which have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict. This list is short . The United Kingdom , Spain , Bulgaria , Australia , and Poland are some of the countries listed there.
The other list contains every one not on the first list. Most of the world's nations are on that list. My press secretary will be distributing copies of both lists later this evening.
Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those nations on List 2 ceases indefinitely. The money saved during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi war. THEN EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER IT'll GO TO OUR SOCIAL SECURITY SYSTEM SO IT WONT GO BROKE IN 20 YEARS.
The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world Hell holes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption.
Need help with a famine ? Wrestling with an epidemic? Call France .
In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money toward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home. On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the earth.
Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize? Try France or maybe China .
I am ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with France , Germany , and Russia . Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are retiring from NATO as well.
I have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many UN diplomatic vehicles located in Manhattan with more than two unpaid parking tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped, shredded and crushed. I don't care about whatever treaty pertains to this. You creeps have tens of thousands of unpaid tickets. Pay those tickets tomorrow or watch your precious Benzes, Beamers and limos be turned over to some of the finest chop shops in the world. I love New York.
A special note to our neighbors: Canada is on List 2. Since we are likely to be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks might want to try not pissing us off for a change.
Mexico is also on List 2. Its president and his entire corrupt government really need an attitude adjustment. I will have a couple thousand extra tanks and infantry divisions sitting around. Guess where I am going to put 'em? Yep, border security.
Oh, by the way, the United States is abrogating the NAFTA treaty - starting now.
We are tired of the one-way highway. Immediately, we'll be drilling for oil in Alaska -which will take care of this country's oil needs for decades to come. If you're an environmentalist who opposes this decision, I refer you to List 2 above: pick a country and move there.
It is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens. Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them by saying, 'darn tootin.'
Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on the planet. It is time to eliminate hunger in America . It is time to eliminate homelessness in America . To the nations on List 1, a final thought. Thank you guys. We owe you and we won't forget.
To the nations on List 2, a final thought: You might want to learn to speak Arabic.
God bless America .. Thank you and good night.'
If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English, thank a soldier
This won't be a long post. It is easy for me to make my point.
Tonight, at the Democrat Convention, JFK's legacy was hijacked by his own brother, Edward M. ( The Killer of Chappaquidick) Kennedy. The killer says that today's neo-Dems are building on the legacy of his brother, JFK, to which I say BULLCRAP!
JFK challenged this nation when he said "Ask not what your country can do for you - Ask what you can do for your country".
The nation went on to do many great things including putting the first men on the moon. He never said that America owed its citizens every safety, convenience and comfort. He said that we all owe America.
I know there are a few of you who do not support Barack Obama, but I think Mr. Obama at least deserves some credit for being able to rally large groups of people behind one common goal. I think his idea to put the American political process in the hands of the people (the way it should be) is a good idea, and even though I question his lack of political experience, I think that Mr. Obama is a very smart man who deserves as much of a chance as John McCain. John McCain does have prior political and military experience, I will give him that much credit, but he also wants to continue what Bush started, and for that, I feel he is not worthy of my vote. I think Mr. Obama has the right idea in putting the American political process where it should be - back into the hands of the general public. For many years, we have been slaves to the electoral college and for many years America has been a republic - officials elected by representatives of the people - instead of a true democracy. I feel Barack Obama's idea to let the people have a say in how this country is run is better than what John McCain is doing - John McCain isn't listening to the general public like Obama is; he is listening to Big Money, like all other greedy politicans do.
I know some of you may think Barack Obama is a socialist who feels all work must be done to benefit the country as a whole, but I am actually going to agree with him and say that if all work is done for the greater good of the country as a whole, then there will be a lot less greedy Americans whose only concerns are making themselves better at the expense of everyone else. It will force everyone to earn their keep instead of relying on scams or lawsuits for money. I would actually be happy if Obama mandated a "no work no food" policy, because then it would force all the lazy bums in this country to get off their butts and start working or starve to death. If you can't work due to injury or maternity leave...I think maternity leave should be an exception to the rule, but injury? Maybe if you'd use your brain and pay attention instead of yammering away on the cell phone all damn day you wouldn't get hurt.
Anyway, I better shut up before my smartmouth gets me in trouble. I will end this by asking the rest of you who you are voting for, why, and what you think the new president should do for this country.
March 5th 1770. The Boston Massacre....Crispus Attucks was not only the First American Martyr of the Revolution, he was also the Organizer and leader of the Crowd that confronted the British Soldiers at Boston that day. He was also the Formost in Resisting the British Soldiers and as a result the First one Killed.
In 1851 there was a Petition presented to the Massachusetts Legislature for the appropriation of Funds to build a Monument to the First American Martyr of the Revolution, Crispus Attucks. The Petition was denied.
On the 5th of March, 1776, Washington repaired to the intrenchments. "Remember," said he, "it is the 5th of March, and avenge the death of your brethren!"
The Battle of Bunker Hill
June 17th 1775, The Battle of Bunker Hill. Patriots after surronding the City of Boston, took up postions on the Charlestown Peninsula on top of Bunker Hill and Breed's Hill North of town across the Bay. During this battle between 1,500 American Patriots and 2,400 British Soliders took part. While the British did take both Hills they suffered Heavy losses. British casualties were about 1,150 killed and wounded, while the Patriots suffered 450 Killed and wounded.
But out of those who died 2 famous People were Killed in the Fighting. A Patriot named General Warren and a British Major of Marines Pitcarin. The Little known Hero is the Man who Killed Major Pitcarin was named Henry Hill. After the Battle he was was presented to General Washington for his heroic Fighting and the killing of the Major. In Pictures made of the Battle he was at First a Prominent Figure, but over time he has been forgotten and ingloriously left out.
Henry Hill also fought in the battles of Lexington, Brandywine, Monmouth, Princeton, and Yorktown. He died in Chilicothe, on the 12th of August, 1833, aged eighty years. He was buried with the honors of war and eventually forgotten to History.
Dorchester Heights
On March 4th, 1776 Boston. Washington received 59 Cannon from the Captured British fort of Ticondaroga. Overnight the Patriots Constructed Fortifications and installed the Cannon on the Heights overlooking Bristish occupied Boston. This move eventually led to the British evacutaion of Boston on March 17th, 1776. March 17 is celebrated as Evacuation Day in some Massachusetts communities.
But one Little known Hero is James Easton. James Easton, of Bridgewater, was one who participated in the erection of the fortifications on Dorchester Heights, under command of Washington. His talents were invaluable in the Construciton of the fortifications.
Mr. Easton was a manufacturing blacksmith, and his forge and nail factory, where were he also made edge tools and anchors, was extensively known, for its superiority of workmanship. Much of the iron work for the Tremont Theatre and Boston Marine Railway was executed under his supervision. Mr. Easton was self-educated. When a young man, stipulating for work, he always provided for chances of evening study. He was welcome to the business circles of Boston as a man of strict integrity, and the many who resorted to him for advice in complicated matters styled him "the Lawyer." His sons, Caleb, Joshua, Sylvanus, and Hosea, inherited his mechanical genius and mental ability.
Crossing of the Delaware
December 25th, 1776 Trenton. In a daring tactic, General Washington in the Dead of Winter decide to attack the town of Trenton. In the middle of the night and during a snow storm the Patriots crossed the Delaware River and then attacked the Hessian Mercenaries and British Troops occuping the Town. It was an absolute and complete Victory.
A Little known Hero was Oliver Cromwell. He enlisted in company commanded by Capt. Lowery, attached to the Second New Jersey Regiment, under the command of Col. Israel Shreve. He was at the battles of Trenton, Princeton, Brandywine, Monmouth, and Yorktown. Cromwell was brought up a farmer, having served his time with Thomas Hutchins, Esq., his maternal uncle. He was, for six years and nine months, under the immediate command of Washington, whom he loved affectionately. "His discharge "at the close of the war, was in Washington's own hand-writing, of which he was very proud, often speaking of it. He received, annually, ninety-six dollars pension. He lived a long and honorable life. He lost three sons and three daughters; had fourteen children who reached the age of maturity--seven sons and seven daughters. He saw his grand-children to the third generation. He was a man of strong natural powers--never chewed tobacco nor drank a glass of ardent spirit. He died, in the town of his birth, January 24th, 1853.
There is another little known Hero at the Crossing. Prince Whipple was a Body Guard to General Whipple of New Hampshire, who was an Aid to General Washington. In the Engraving done of the Night of December 25th 1776, Prince Whipple can be seen Proudly riding Horseback, next to General Washington and General Whipple. More Modern Artist's failed to add him to other renditions of that Glorious day.
Prince was beloved by all who knew him. He was the "Caleb Quotem" of Portsmouth, where. he died at the age of thirty-two, leaving a widow and children.
The Spy of Lafayette
One Little known hero is James Armistead Lafayette. James was a man who Volunteered his service to General Lafayette of the Continential Army. So impressed with this Man General Lafayette asked him to be a Spy. Upon agreeing to this task, he was able to get himself employed by the British General Cornwallis. Cornwallis was also so impressed by him that he in turn, asked him to spy for the British Army. So James Armistead started Feeding the British false information till the Surrender of General Cornwallis. So perfect was the Acting of James that not until Cornwallis met James in the Headquarters tent of General Lafayette, did his true identity and mission become known to him. James was so fond of General Lafayette that he took his last name as a sign of his loyalty and appreciation. The Service provided by James and the success of his mission was immeasurable to the success over Cornwallis.
Americans All..
What some of you may have already figured out is that not only are these American Heros. But they are American Heros that happen to be African American. The reason for not including this earlier, is because it matters little what the Color of their skin was. All that matters is that they are Heros, American Heros that fought for not only Our Liberty and Freedom, but their Liberty and the Freedom of Future Generations.
The Continential Army was so integrated by the end of the Revolutionary War, 1/4th of it was made up of African Americans. The United States would not see this kind of integration again for another 200 years.
These are not all of the Hero's of the American Revolution, there are many more of many different Races and Sexes. But the Fact that they Fought and many died for all of us.....is what matters.
They Were...........We Are..............Americans All...
The “Megulator” was vacationing in Maine and came upon a “living history museum” that contained a historic post office building. Inside was a cache of FBI wanted posters from 1971, the date the post office building officially closed. Among them: the original FBI Most Wanted poster for Barack Obama associate Bernardine Dohrn:
Guess they forgot about the 1988 Presidential race when Joe Plag. Biden was caught red handed by the Dukakis campaign copying a speech to the point of plagiarism.
His campaign folded shortly thereafter. But the voters, a la Ted Kennedy, kept voting for him, and here he is today.
Granted it isn't as bad as killing a campaign staffer. But you got to hand it to the voters of Delaware for keeping him in there. Same with the Massachusetts bunch.
Biden is a hatchet man, willing to tackle McCain. Obama looks like a weak punching bag and is giving up ground under the recent attacks of McCain.
Why do some Americans find it necessary to separate themselves from the whole of our society with a hyphen? Is it perhaps a politially correct method of separating the "melting pot" concept so as to defeat the salutary goal of a united citizenship. Has the phrase "we're all Americans here",been subjugated to the separatist concept embodied when a distinction is made regarding race, religion, origin, color, sex, sexual oriientation, or whatever distinction or difference may or may not be visible or readily apparent? Why would a black person, born in this country, fathered by a black man born in England consider himself an "African-American"? Why are persons from Mexico labeled hispanic-Americans or Mexican-Americans? To what end, for what purpose? Why is it that certain religions are thus hyphenated, as in Muslim- Amercans, and less often Jewish-American as a point of distinction or description? These various and sundry hyphenations serve no useful purpose except in cases where there is an expectation of predjudice, which often leads to that denoument or assessment as such regardless of actual events. Further if such characteristic is a source of pride for some individuals, and indeed regarding some persons it is, shouldn't that difference/distinction be secondary to the unifying appellation American.
